Men of War: Developers update 07

Hello everyone! As expected we are going to continue our devupdates today. Inevitably it’s time to show some new features for all who love network battles.

We saw many sly tactics in the “Combat” mode that don’t have any sense in terms of real battle tactics. In addition, it doesn't have a clear goal and average play time is longer than 20 minutes – not so good for players who don’t have much time to play. So we decided to make an alternative game mode – “Capture the Flag” with simple and clear goals, fast and intensive with an optimal amount of players of – 1 vs. 1 or 2 vs. 2

All players divide themselves between 2 teams. Goal of each team is to raise the flag up in the middle of the map. Nevertheless the flag raise speed is quite slow, and the flag goes up for that team that have more units around the flag. The team needs to raise the flag to 100% in order to win. Even if the match time is set to 60 minutes, it can be finished within 5 minutes if one team has much better skills than the others have. If the flag can’t be raised during match time, then the winner is decided by score, which is being calculated by the amount of defeated enemy units.

We also made some changes to the “Combat” mechanics to further improve it. The result: “territory control”. From now on such tactics as “hide from battle” will not work. If one team controls more than half of all flags, then the territory control timer will start. Therefore the other team must capture back enough flags on map in a certain time, otherwise they will lose. If there is no winner during the match time, then the winner is being decided by score, as usual.
