Yeah, does anyone have any experience with this title on steam? Would the game run slower because steam has to be running in the background? If someone can give me some insight, I will totally buy a copy of this for my brother.

I love steam. No worrying about CD keys or losing your account. It automatically updates to the latest version, flawlessly unless the developers screw up.

The steam overlay CAN make the game run slower. It's not normally an issue, though, and if it is, then you can just turn it off.

Personally, I consider this not only an incentive to buy the game but also to gift it.

Simply said, att 7.50$, everybody who can afford to buy a McDonald meal can afford to gift the game to a friend who's still hesitating who in turns could do the same(hopefully, before the sales ends for him).

Let knowledge of Men of War spread!

(In fact, I'd recommend trying to talk about the game to Red orchestra players, considering both game centers on WW2 realism even if one is a RTS and the other a shooter).

My thoughts exactly.

And an even better alternative, in my opinion: Create a Steam account with the 7.50£ Men of War on, and then let your friends borrow it and try it out for free (that is, if you are heretic enough to be friends with anyone who doesn't have Men of War in his/her possession, hehe.)

This game works fine on steam. Steam, developed as a digital distribution platform for games, was designed to run in the background without taking up system resources. Right now, steam is taking up only 15mb of my memory and using absolutely minimal processing power. On all but the lowest end of systems, this will provide no noticeable performance difference. As was said before, activating the steam overlay can slow it down a bit (Shift-Tab) but won't happen unless you press that key combination, and I believe it can be completely disabled.

The editor is included with the purchase of MoW on steam, and can be launched by launching MoW from steam, and when prompted for the editor, or the game, selecting the editor. As for mods, I have had no problem installing or running custom mods (GSM, or any of the custom missions). Since the directory structure for the retail install and the steam install is identical after the MoW root directory, it's simple enough to install them, and then run the game and activate them in game at will. I have not tried the dynamic campaign generator with my steam install of MoW. I have kept my retail copy installed at the release version for use with the DCG. I have not run into any problems with running mods on the steam copy though. :D

This is a great opportunity for anyone with the remote interest in the game to check it out. I've already recommended it to a few few of my buddies, three of which have purchased it today. At $7.50 you don't have much to lose and even if you're only interested in the single player content, it's well worth the price.

Spread the word!

Good idea. Anyway, already gifted it to my brother since we had already discussed it when it was back at 12.99$ but when a decision was reached, the sale was over. Now that it is at 7.50$ I felt there is little reason for me to hold back this time around.

In the hope I can get him to play it enough for me and him to get the same type of synergy that we had back in Dawn of War I. There was something nasty in our combination of his Chaos Marines and my Imperial guard that managed to curbstomp 2 out of the 3 other teams of a game of 2v2v2v2. Seriously, his marines were going forward whilst cloaked while my artillery and heavy weapon teams were pounding from behind...

But I'm babbling on. Still, considering what was possible between the two of us back then, I can only imagine what could be possible under men of war.

Makes me wish my brother had an interest in computer games.
