Hello all
great little mod, but my mortar teams just wont engage by themselves. Is this normal, or an issue my end?

This is normal, and in my opinion probably for the better otherwise ammunition would quickly be wasted on trivial targets, (for example a lone enemy tank-man).
I think the best way to use them is like this: select your mortars and hold "shift" and 1,2,3 etc to create a group/squad. Then you are in full control and your artillery can quickly be called upon to deliver precise bombardment exactly where/when it is needed.

Hi All, Can someone please donate a good mortar sound, I have searched the internet extensively and cannot find any good mortar sound replacements...
My next option is to look through all my WW2 documentary's and find a good example of a WW2 era mortar firing, and then extract the audio stream as a wav file and use that as an authentic sound in game....

You can use the program MP3MyMP3 to record any sounds played on your computer, and then WavePad Sound Editor to edit the sound file so you get the relevant sounds. You can download a trial version of WavePad, and I believe that MP3MyMP3 is freeware.
I'm using these programs to record and edit sounds, and I'm very happy with them so far.

HEllo!
I use Audacity that is also free and it can both record + edit your sounds:

Cheers.

Hi All,
The link below is for a mortar firing sound replacement mod.

Fixed incorrect path to replacement sound... All good now...
Mortar Firing Sound Replacement Mod by Mopar for MOWAS. ( all versions )
- Mortar Sound was Captured from a WW2 Documentary Series called World At War, Episode 23 - The Pacific
Mortar was an American M1 or M2 mortar firing on Japanese positions on Iowa Jima.
I hope other modders find this small sound replacement mod useful....
( I didn't like the stock MOWAS mortar firing sound and thought I could do better )
Regards,
Mopar
PS: Thanks to Bassmaniac for the inspiration and idea to improve apon the stock game sound effects.....Last edited by Mopar; 04-03-2012 at 08:05.
