Neverending Battles, version 2.3, Korsun Pocket, default Nations.
MoWAS dvd version, patched to 2.05.13.
    Singleplayer hard difficulty.
In the Video options, textures were set to low for this game save when
    it started to slow down.

Is it possible to put a hold on the enemy new waves coming
if there are already many, many enemy on the map ?
This will prevent overload on the computer and stop the game crashing.
Until these enemy are cleared / reduced then the enemy waves should halt.

    On Neverending #1 Korsun pocket,
I was able to stop the tanks and most men from crossing the river.
Only a small amount of men were coming through.
This allowed the trigger of the 2nd line of defence to fall.
The map got shorter at that point as scripted in the game.

The waves of enemy kept on coming and piling up in the fog.
Eventually the game kept crashing because of the huge number of
    moving and stuck enemy entities.
I could not continue with this game, like I wanted to.

I examined the game save mission.scn file with Notepadd++.
The file was 6.7mbs. Normally they are only 1.5mbs.
There were maybe 200 enemy tanks and vehicles stacked into eachother.

The count / hits for Russian enemy men on the map was 3849 !!!
The search term was {Human "mp/rus

I would often see these big clots of men
all huddled together going to their way-points, for the ones that got through.

I edited the mission file with Notepad++.
I was able to remove most enemy tanks off the map to test.
The game ran better but still crashed.
    Still too many entities !

I then removed maybe 500+ men off the map.
It was slow work. I had to do it manually.
Notepad++ can not delete bulk blocks of code to my knowing.
But after, the game ran fast, like normal

Another idea about controlling enemy entities..............

It would be great if a player could set the maximum number of
1.enemy tanks and 2. enemy men
spawns to occur on the map at one time
    to match their computer's abilities.

They would have to take into account their own number of men as well.

I think my computer can handle 3000 enemy men on the map.
    Maybe 100 or 150 enemy tanks ?

if its your own mission u playing in sp and editing try enabling entity manager at 0.5x or even lower numbers for dead objects etc stay on the map in entitymanager.set under resource\set\. you could also add menu button for the limits that you want as that can be done, basically you can check for entities enemy human not dead if its more than some # then no more inf can spawn, for tanks u would check for enemy vehicle operatable and inhabited etc...

Yes it is my own mission in singleplayer.
    I found this in the mission.scn file I was editing;

    {EntityManager {Enabled}
    {CountScale "x0.5"}

I could try lowering that number if I wanted to ?
But, I don't want to limit the time dead enemy are on the map because at the moment
it is set at a good amount of time in case I need to get stuff from their inventories.

you could also add menu button for the limits that you want as that can be done, basically you can check for entities enemy human not dead if its more than some # then no more inf can spawn, for tanks u would check for enemy vehicle operatable and inhabited etc...
Too complicated for me to do.
If ozka420 could consider what we wrote and work it into the next version ?

In the meantime I'll see if I can find a better mission.scn file editor
that can remove blocks of code with certain words in it
for the times when entities become too much.
I'll just edit the game save for now ..............

I'll have to leave the mod coding to ozka420 to try and fix these entity overload situations.

Hey guys, back from my vaccation now. Spent 5 days in Berlin with my girlfriend, really nice city
My head still hurts from the trip, too much alcohol lol.. so cheap compared to sweden.

Anyway, I will have a look at the entity manager files to see if I can come up with a more balanced setting.

Also regarding setting amount of troops, I've been meaning to do add a options menu when you select your nations. That lets you select enemy amount. But I was thinking of having 3 options, Full amount of units, less amount of units (75%), and half amount of units (50%). I will start this when I start working on the lite versions, which will be half in size compared to normal NEB missions. With only 2 defensive lines.

For the last 2 weeks I've been working on a new map/mission. The map is 800x800, the biggest I've ever made. The map is done and ready for multiplayer 8v8, and im still working on the mission. Not sure if I should do a skirmish of it or come up with something new.

Neverending Battles, version 2.3, #1 - Korsun Pocket, default Nations.
MoWAS dvd version, patched to 2.05.13.
    Singleplayer Only hard difficulty.

About the errors and crashes on Korsun Pocket of late on my computer ...........

Huge clots of enemy were blocking my cpu from healthy function
just like blood clots on the brain.
The enemy was up to 200 tanks & vehicles and 3849 men, 1000 of those were tankmen.
Figures were found in mission.scn file opened with Notepad++.

The 2nd line of defence had fallen,
but I had stopped the Russian tanks from crossing the river
with good defences like hedgehogs and mines.

Russian men were getting through, that is why the 2nd line fell.

When the 2nd line of defence falls the map is clipped in half.
This was designed by ozka42 to give your computer more power by showing less graphics.

Eventually the mission completed timer ended but I kept on playing.
I want the enemy to get to the end of the map to overrun my last defence line.

I learnt from forum user djsatane how to show the full map after it only shows half.
I wanted to see all the Russian enemy piling up in the fog
    that was crashing my computer.
I knew they were there because I could hear them
and I could blow them up with artillery.

But I had no clue there were huge masses of tanks and men
clumping together on the 1st line of defence. Don't know why ?

This bug has happened only once before on Neverending Battles #6, Cheap Hill..... (Patch 2.2 version).
Page 16, post 158 of this topic.

Maybe it is just a rare bug that happens sometimes ?
Need to keep playing new games to find out..................
Now I know how to see the whole map I can see if it happens again.

Maybe for singleplayer need enemy on the map limit function to stop this from happening.

Also don't forget to try and fix disappearing men on engineer truck when loading from a save.
Maybe crew them with rifle men or something else ?
I use these men to lay hedgehogs as soon as they get to the frontline.
I don't want them disappearing off the map with the hedgehogs after loading from a save.

Everything else about this mod is perfect for me except 2 or 3 other improvements or fixes
    mentioned in Page 16 - post #158, Page 17 - post 166, Page 18 - post #173.

Thanks for noticing this, I noticed this bug only once before as well.

It seems like one of the enemy ligher spawns have wrong waypoints set to them, and they wont continue any further.
I'll fix this for next patch thanks OVO.

How can I make the enemy men disappear instantly
off the map as soon as they are killed ?

No red marker of dead body if Tab key on keyboard is pressed.
I want to free-up the computer from the dead body count so it can keep on playing,
instead of crashing with an entity error.

I think this has something to do with EntityManager but it is not where djsatane said it is in post #182.
There is no "entitymanager.set under resource\set\" , not for the dvd version anyway.
I do see it in the previous Men of War game programs folder,
but it is not in the Assault Squad programs folder.

For Korsun Pocket battle, EntityManager is mentioned in the 0.mi file in the neverbattle1 mod folder
and in the mission.scn file of the saved game.

    {EntityManager {Enabled}
    {CountScale "x0.5"}

I lowered these 2 instances to "x0.1" and even tried "x0.0".
I also deleted the EntityManager block of text from those files.
But the red markers still stayed on the map when you press Tab.

These entity crashes happen a lot when a lot of men get blown up by artillery or
set on fire by the incendiary rounds.
I have noticed a lot of these crashes start to happen when those
Russian black shirted marines start appear. They come in huge numbers.

I'm doing these games on low textures btw.

One other thing I would like to try is turning off those bonus re-enforcements you get,
like the volkssturm, flakpanzer etc. I just want to order those when I need them.
I think they can load up on the map too much automatically.

I'll change my own game save file or whatever to experiment if you can tell me how.

    Hi OVO,

Try Powergrep, Its a very useful tool for doing what you want easily, You will however have to create the script files it uses to do search replace with conditions.....

    http://www.powergrep.com/manual/index.html

Have a read of the manual and you will see how flexible it is..

I used it for many years when i was modding for Battlezone 2, OFP,ARMA,ARMA2 etc and its extremely flexible GREP tool.....
once you create the script you need its easy from there.....

Have a look and let me know if it suits your needs...

BTW: entitymanager.set and fxmanager.set files are both there in gamelogic.pak.. regardless of game version ( DVD or Digital Download )
