    Re: Identify vehicles from WW2

The 540mm barrel were completed in February 1943 and the vehicles re-armed with this smaller calibre mortar, were named Gerät 041 (the earlier vehicles were named Gerät 040).

The advantages of the new calibre were longer range (up to 10,000 metres compared to 4,000 metres for the 600mm Gerät 040) and a higher initial velocity of the shell.

Only the mortars no. V "Loki" and No. III "Thor" were finally fitted with 540mm calibre barrels.

    Re: Identify vehicles from WW2

It´s a fake M10. During the Ardennes Offensive the Germans modified a small number of Panther Ausf. G´s to look like American M10´s by welding steel plates to the turrets and hulls of their Panthers. The Commanders cupola were removed and other smaller things as well. At close range they didnt fool anyone, except for the very untrained soldier, but at longer range they did look like the real thing.

Unfortunately for the Germans, most of these fake M10´s were recognized were what they were and were knocked out.

    Thanks Zeke

I wondered what the purpose was but i can see now .. fake m10's
    waste of time really.
One glimps of tracks/bogies and poof goes the illusion. The panther/tiger torsion bogey system is unmistakable.. and obvious to any soldier with eyes in his head.

Crap i just realised that after x hours playing red tide and more on forums today is now yesterday.
At this rate ill be dead before i know it. Sniper Kuznetsov [] awaiting orders comrade colonel.
Good. snipers are gold. Get out there and thin those enemy lines soldier.
