Forgot to mention i used an SMG in the test, i also made the ones i was shooting at hold a grenade, this way i could shoot at the armour without hitting their arms.

You may see that the damage is the same, but when you look very closely at the health bar, you'll notice that the one with the body armour takes slightly less damage, setting the one that does the shooting as user helps as it shows the health bar when they are hit.

Ok, I'll try repeating it all once more some time.

What would be most interesting is to get some solid intell with thorough description of the mechanism of these chest-plates work.

Actually, there is a general lack of information on the game's mechanics, like f.e. there are unit stats that say stealth 1/2..., weapon skill 1/2..., but what EXACTLY does it all mean IN DETAIL?

Is it possible that the armour only has an effect on damage inflicted by the enemy, meaning playing around in the test mode wouldn't show it's real potential?

Not if you turn on friendly fire, I believe

They're mentioned in Men of War and there it states that it protects only from SMG fire.

Too much information is gotten from the loading screen instead of a proper reference.

The armour wouldn't be effective against rifle rounds, only shell fragments and pistol rounds. No idea if that's how it's represented in game

I have downloaded the patch 3 times now, not only does it take half a day to downloadn, it is also broken each time I try to unzip it. It keeps saying the file is of an unknown type or damaged. Can somebody please help me?

@captainmckurk, try using some file download manager, like "download helper" or something else - these programmes are free to use and can help a lot, if you are having troubles downloading, especially since your connection to the file storage might be unstable.
