I don't think people would fancy too much on dlc's I have all the map dlc's and I can't find any player that would play on them. But custom mods are played by a rather high number of people much higher than dlc map players. So why not add a dlc with a popular mod. Like men of war supporting German soldiers mod to make it more popular and bugfree and releasing it as a dlc with all the content. That would be very cool.

Also instead of adding reward units why not add a specific custom army like for germans: Czech units, Romanian or Hungarian you choose which one you want. Same for brits and Americans: Canadian divisions or Indian divisions you choose.

Building custom unit sets does sound like something very fun for multiplayer like the old CoD online, and i think there are enough units in game to make it possible. Im no sure how this would affect game balance, probably trash it, but at the same time it still has the rock paper scissors dynamic you could be risking a to monotheistic strategy or you could partner with people with different unit sets for a balanced army. Maybe it could be as simple as choosing your special unit roster. Do you swap out radio OP for stugg? Or swap out nebel for maybe pak 43? Swap out brandens for paras? ect ect. It could add a very cool dynamic.

Also for gods sake nerf the 203mm already, and KT price increase please? things destroys the late combat games you can argue all you want about pushing ect ect, but combat is still broken with these units, and its an otherwise great game mode.

Not really. Idea of making unit dlc now instead of map dlc - so something like switching everything, would make it more interesting.

Making "custom armies" will also make it interesting - look at Wargame EE, in this game players have something like custom armies and game is balanced if players won't screw their armies.

It is possible in theory and of course will help with making this game better.

The only problem is the game engine. I'm sure devs can make such dlc, but to make everything work this stuff must be also somewhere in game files for other players, so they can play with players with dlc, and here we have a problem - how to make such stuff unique to use only for dlc owners?

But the idea of changing for same time subject of dlc's from maps to units - and add maps in patches instead of units for for example 2-3 patches, would be nice.

Also as in subject of dlc, there is one more idea for dlc - "texture pack dlc" - just a bunch of textures, for example Afrika Korps textures, Different Winter Textures. I know it's not so worth buying but to be honest, buying dlc maps also is not so worth as they are not so popular

Look at CoH - every patched install has absolutely all the files, but some are inaccessible from within the game for people who don't own the entire trilogy.

All there is to it are little changes to the game's executable. This last one is coded, and how many people out there can successfully decompress an executable and make correct changes?
Well, at least that's what I think of it. I might as well be wrong though.

There won't be unit DLC and the map DLC won't be for free. In fact, the first multiplayer map pack has been for free, so it obviously didn't make much of a difference. While unit DLC might sound nice on paper, they are not necessarily in reality. Either the playerbase will complain about the units being to strong (no matter it's true or not), or as some here suggest they would be entirely pointless. This game simply doesn't fit such scheme and the least thing the game currently needs, is useless units.

There are over twice as many players who own DLC vs. monthly active players. The GOTY edition sells more on a daily basis than Assault Squad without DLC does. So the claims that nobody owns the DLC are simply absurd.

And who makes such a claim?

Btw, this is not the problem. The problem is that VERY few players host and play DLC maps. I have two DLC maps packs, how are you going to make it easier for me to enjoy them and get any value for money out of them?

If just everyone in here complaining about the lack of DLC maps being played, would instead host a game with them, we'd see many online games available to join. The question should be, why do people decide not to play them, even though a large part of the community owns them? And why are we responsible for you not getting value out of your money if you decide not to host such maps yourselves, but instead demand others to do so?

It's 1 PM Western European time and it took me less than 5 minutes for someone to join my DLC server. And while I'm typing this a 2nd person joined.

i hosted 2 days ago a 5v5 DLC map and it took 2 minutes to get 8 people + some minutes while i wait for those players who join-out-join-out-join-out.... instead of stay or do not join, but in 5 more minutes we had a game and we played, so the problem is that people dont want to host or people see the game but they say: "I am not going to join cause it will never be full....." so if only 1 do this no problem, but the problem is that this is done by more than 1 person, if you see a game with a DLC give it a change and join for 2 minutes!!
    you will not loose anything

Any chance we could get community map pack added to increase number of maps played? if possible keep them out of ranked play ability but having more maps to play without forcing people to download mods would be great for this game.
