    Re: [W.I.P] Avante-Garde (cinematic map)

I am not certainly sure, the project began about a week ago. It depends on how fast I learn how the MoW modding work, I'm still trying to grasp it but I'm getting somewhere. Maybe between a month to three months? There are many things I must do after completing the map itself, such as changing the GUIs, modifying the skins, changing the ranges and such.

And a question, I'm use to modding files on Source Engine. On Source Engine, the modified files in its respective folder will automatically load when a user start up the game. I was wondering if this work the same way as well for Men of War? Or must I modify the files then compress it in to a .PAK/.PAT file?

men of war modding is really simple and you dont to create paks because all .Paks are is compressed files to keep the size small if you downloaded a mod already it should help you learn the basics of it and all .pak and .pat are openable with winrar. Anyway the map looks great cant wait to see the finished version.

I have one question: Can you release that map for public after you have finished the movie?

@gamerliker8 Ah alright, thanks for your suggestions. I went and downloaded BBWW2 as you suggested and took a look at its directory setup and found just exactly what I needed to know. Thanks!

@Cappe! Yes, the map will be release as a singleplayer and multiplayer co-op campaign mod.

    Re: [W.I.P] Avante-Garde (cinematic map)

I'm almost done with the landscape itself, I just have to finish up the textures and props and fortifications. There are some places in the map I am not satisfied with so I'll have to go back and revise those areas.

Once all that is done then I can get start on the difficult part: scripting the map. -sighs-

You should rotate the wooden ramps of 180°
Those obstacles was depicted in a wrong position in the movie Saving Private Ryan:

Ah thanks for the correction! I feels quite a bit embarrassed that I made a mistake.

I always wonder why chose to have them face away from the sea. Wouldn't it make more sense if the Germans put the ramps to face the sea? o.O

    Re: [W.I.P] Avante-Garde (cinematic map)

The idea of the ramps is to tip over landing craft, so if one went onto one, the side would go up the ramp and cause it to tip over.

If you have it facing the sea, the landing craft would only bump into it, and possible cause the ramp to break apart. The only effective use for it facing the sea is to fix a mine to the tip, although you would need high waters.
