Moddability.

Re: What do you love most about FoW?
The realistic environments and the moddability.
The game has great possibilities and great ambition. I'm not much for the arcade feel of the out of the box game and most singleplayer missions are just silly in my eyes, but it offers very good multiplayer and it gets a really nice feel with mods.
It has sort of become a Close Combat in 3D to me, and that's a VERY good grade.

Re: What do you love most about FoW?
Open endedness, well not as much as I would like but it's a good start. It's pretty much similar to battlefield but on a larger scale, tank's coming your way, sure you can jump into your own tank or take a zooka. You can shoot it whereever you want however you want, see a gun you like you can kill the other guy and take it.
It's a pretty open ended system, however there are still several restrictions that are bit annoying.
First off just some unit responses such as autoduck when a nade is tossed at you and autobandage when you wake up from being blasted that disrupts normal playing and most of the time will get you killed.
The melee system's done pretty poorly and placing a model will restrict any units from passing under it even if there is enough room.
Scaling units will also not scale their collision detection causing things scaled down to block paths and things scaled up to not cover the entirity of the model.
The constant program has been terminated's pretty annoying, and seeing how the editor runs so much smoother than the actual game makes me question if they're prioritizing copy protection over smooth gameplay.
And a few more things that I know of but can't think of at the moment.
Overall it's a great experience, pretty much total customization to how you want to play it, what guns you want to use, equipment, how you want to achieve your goals, plays quite like an rpg but at the same time like a 3rd person shooter, reminds me a bit of infantry. Love the editor too, reminds me a bit of my starcraft days, though these doors actually work better and the destructable enviroments are a nice touch, the entities however are a bit limited, and the colour options for the entities aren't useful at all unless you're trying to create lego land. It's really a good game (asides from the couple bugs and a few functions I would prefer added in there), not sure why never really caught on, specially when Company of Heroes didn't quite have as much flexibility and the engine wasn't better just different. Oh well, the single player missions are a blast, the multiple player battlezones not so much (partially due to unit restrictions), and with the editors been making some co-op maps so those are pretty fun.

Direct Control. The Realism. The superb graphics. The Great Maps. This game is trailed a long way by CoH. I love it!

Re: What do you love most?
I very much like how you could control a small squad (battlegruppen) with armour, because I'm playing a WW2 conflict but in a small scale with the squads. I can equip my squads with the preferred weapons of my own choice. FOW is similarly like Jagged Alliance 2 but in Real-Time and with armor support too!In my opinion FOW is meant for small to medium sized squad control. I find it difficult to control a large number of squad - though it is quite exciting too but I still prefer and love the micro management of the squad. As it is easier for me to control and to challenge my brain to make and plan strategic decisions with the handful of men and firepower I have rather than the overwhelming Tank rush like in other RTS games.
I also love the idea that behind a Tank is always the men driving it. Where I could control the units driving the tank. It's just different controlling the Tank as a whole and having the men control a Tank in a game. So it would've been best if there was a veteran system. I mean since control is detailed, a veteran system should have been programmed in the game. I mean, the Tank fights should not be based solely on the technical superiority of a weapon but also on the expertise or veteranship of the men behind the weapon. But aside from these lackings, I honestly found that I played and love FOW more than COH.

Re: What do you love most?
I love the realism, the direct control, many units.
Graphics no matter. I like men ducking from a nade it is realistic.
I hate having 50 men and being able to select a certain amount only. Id like to be able to selct all the infantry I can in a swipe and throw them in the grinder. This puts a cramp in frontline.

Re: What do you love most?
First, sorry for bumping such an old thread, but it's a sticky.
- I like the direct control feature so you can do exatcly how you want, don't need the computer to stear the soldiers. This is very unique, it's really the next gen rts!
- I love that it is a very modfriendly game! (even though i just map). I see how many people mod for this little community, must be well over 60 % of this communities active members that mod!
- Perfect made vehicles, tanks, cars, apcs etc. I didn't play Soldiers and when i started with FoW i thought woa, this is the most realistic and accurate ww2 game ever. But when i played Men of War BETA i realised that the vehicles were much much more realistic there, the moved slower, longer ranges, the sounds.. the new armour penetration.. I fell in love with MoW..(hope next beta/demo is singleplayer/coop)!
- The realism: No made up vehicles and weapons everything existed in real life, uses the real data and everything is just so perfect. Only things i can think of is more things of everything, houses, vehicles, weapons etc! But we will for sure get that in MoW!
- Replay-value & COOP; I don't know how many times i played through FoW, 5-10 times + in editor! Then also with my COOP friends, i think that the single-player campaigns should be expanded with more missions that can be used in COOP, since when you play with friends agains the AI, it gets even more realistic with teamwork and it's just so fun..
- Graphics: Unique graphics which always is as nice as ever! Other games often uses manipulated screenshots and much bloom, blurr in their games so they look nicer. But this is real graphics! In BETA i could clearly see the change, graphics was improved a lot, shadows! But everything felt 3 times as realistc too..
- Micromanagement, the game is like a little RPG. You collect things which makes you soldier more personal and you steal vehicles and take ground! Then i always fix my inventory so it gets perfect, even more rpg a like!
- Free to do what you want during missions, you don't have to go in a certain direction. Very free and open game which highers the replay value a lot!
Last, i hope their will be more compatible games to FoW and MoW.. I would love to see more expansions/sequels!
