FAQ (game crashes etc.)

Q: My performance is low, what can I do?
A: Please understand that the maximum settings of MoW:AS are for high end systems and require better hardware than Men of War. If you though have significant performance issues, try the following:
- Disable bump maps (ATI only)[/*:m:20kh9yk4]
- Disable specular maps (ATI only)[/*:m:20kh9yk4]
- Reduce shadows to low[/*:m:20kh9yk4]
- Reduce water shader to normal[/*:m:20kh9yk4]
- Disable bloom[/*:m:20kh9yk4]
- Disable grass[/*:m:20kh9yk4]
Applying these settings may provide a noticeable boost to your performance. If it's still not enough, you can start to reduce other options such as view distance, model quality and texture quality. The values with the highest impact on performance are shadows, water, grass and view distance. Reducing these accordingly may allow you to play with an optimum combination of graphics fidelity and game performance
Q: I launch the game on steam, but nothing happens, what can I do?
A: Download DirectX9c from Microsoft and install.
Q: Sometimes the game freezes for me?
A: Your GPU might have problems with the shadows, set them to mediums settings.
Q: I launch the game and it tells me that a d3dx9_42.dll is missing, what can I do?
A: Download DirectX9c from Microsoft and install.
Q: The game crashes on start up, showing a render screen:set_mode error, what can I do?
A: Download DirectX9c from Microsoft and install and delete your MoW:AS profile at "own documents/games/men of war - assault squad/".
Q: The game crashes on start up saying it can't open a file, what can I do?
A: Your download isn't entirely finished. Go to your Steam Library, left click on MoW:AS - preferences, local files, synchronize integrity of game cache. After that Steam will download all unfinished files.
Q: I have problems connecting to other servers, or people can't join my server due to NAT, what can I do?
A: Check this Link for further explanation of how to fix the issue.
Q: The game asks me each time I launch multiplayer to enter my cd-key, what can I do?
A: Run the game as Administrator, or make sure that your Windows user has enough rights to write into the registry, alternatively try this: Link
Q: Can I change the mouse buttons used for unit selection?
A: Yes, you can. By opening your options and enabling "Reverse mouse button orders" under the section "Game".
Q: Why does the game tell me the password is incorrect when creating a new account?
A: Your password may be too short, contain no letters or starts with numbers. Use at least 6 characters and start off with letters not numbers.
Q: I can't type the @ symbol to sign up with my email, what can I do?
A: Write it down in a text editor and press Ctrl + C to copy it and Ctrl + V to paste it into the game. Ctrl + Alt + @ may also work for some keyboards.
Q: In skirmish when I buy a unit, my teammate receives it. Why does this happen?
A: The game automatically distributes the units to the player with the least amount of troops. This feature prevents players from being egoistic about the unit resource pool and just call-in "what they want". Since it's a coop gamemode, it will be harmful to the gameplay if players fight over resources instead of playing together. The least thing that should happen is that the player who presses the button first becomes all units he wants. If you need a specific unit, you can transfer other units to your teammates before you call-in a new one, this will make sure you'll receive it.
Q: Will there be replays?
A: Replays will not be included in release. However the replay system is being worked on and is likely to come in a future patch.
Q: Will there be Download-able Content?
A: Most likely, the game is designed to be expanded continuously to provide a lasting gaming experience and lasting support. New vehicles and weapons will be provided for free to everyone, while those who want new missions can acquire them easily though DLC for a lower cost than a full expansion would be. Players will be able to pick and choose the things they want and obtain them at a fair price."If men would consider not so much where they differ, as wherein they agree, there would be far less of uncharitableness and angry feeling in the world" -Joseph Addison

Re: FAQ
Your firewall is most likely blocking the game. Make sure the game is one the white list of your firewall.

Re: FAQ
This still needs an alternative option, for whoever I played with always agrees. Coop is not played egoistically, but tactically and coordinated. Players don't need fiddling with who gets what. Also units in a halftrack for example, aren't distributed between players. And whoever does not play cooperatively will not be playing coop for much longer. Now that we are in the open beta, maybe more people would like to vote here:

Re: FAQ
Use "z" to chat, or "y" if you have a QWERTZ keyboard.
