Re: Texture Example
Very nice.
It's interesting to see how many layers are used to make a single diffuse map. Very instructive, which's nice
Also, I wondered, but I know Men of War support bump-mapping, but does it support normal mapping? Just something I'm curious about since we begun to fiddle with these in my college. I'm also curious about specular maps, as I know these can be used to great effect to add to the "worn" effect of a tank by limiting the specular over painted areas while giving higher specular over areas where the paint was scratched off by enemy shots and such.
I know it probably was the one reason why the Stug was my favorite unit in Company of Heroes, due to the rugged look it gave it <.<;
(Edit: looking at tanks again, I'm tempted to guess that MoW does suport specular maps, but it never hurts to asks for confirmation nonetheless.).

Re: Texture Example
Hi,
Got a big question about texturing. Ok I know about layer and stuff, ad a metal texture etc... import my Uv's ... But my big problem is to draw for example the rivets, the screw, th trigger .. it's for me a big "?"
So do you use photoshop ? another software ? I don't know where should I start even for drawing a simple gun... Got my models (guns) for the french army, they work in the Gem editor but I don't know how start to texture them....
PLease help

Re: Texture Example
Photoshop is an excellent program to use when you start texturizing your models, that is, IF you know how to use it (I don´t). Some people are using Paint from Windows with no bad result at all. The game can handle .bmp, .tga and .dds picture formats as far as I know. Load up your created uv-map into a graphic program and then you are ready to go.

Re: Texture Example
I wish I had a graphic tablet, but I think drawing by mouse is doable too (once you get some practice).

Re: Texture Example
Normal, specular and environment maps are supported.

Re: Texture Example
Also, a question like this, but could you define more what you mean by environment maps? It feels silly to say(as I'm studying in the domain too...) but I'm unfamiliar with that particular appelation(and I know of bumpmaps, illumination maps, specular maps, reflection map, ...).
It's less directly in regard to MoW, though, but more of my curiosity about knowing more about all that can be used for 3d art
