Re: Out of Eight gives MoW 7/8
He has a right go at it for being hard... no wonder games are getting easier when people complain when something with challenge comes along. Other than that, a good review.

Re: Out of Eight gives MoW 7/8
The fact that I have to retry the same mission over and over is actually a great challenge for me. It's so rewarding to finally beat a mission you can't help but throw your hands in the air and cheer.

Re: Out of Eight gives MoW 7/8
Difficulty is a tough thing to assess while doing a review since it's totally subjective (of course, most reviews are subjective anyway): what may be difficult for me might be trivially easy for others. Plus, less experienced gamers will find, for example, hardcore wargames terribly difficult while veterans might not. So I just base it off my opinion on the matter and I found the campaign to be quite difficult. Of course, this may be due to several reasons:
1. Too much Dawn of War II and it's much lessened skill requirements.
2. I suck.
Multiplayer is still "teh awesome." If the game had skirmish AI, I would have strongly considered an 8/8.

Heh, MOW mission are a piece of cake compared to newest sudden strike.. It can take even up to 8 hours to beat a mission, and the game is so buggy and annoying that it's masochism to the highest degree. Also your troops are extremely disposable and yet in limited quantities, yaaay

I've seen many arcade RTS players complain about the difficulty, and numerous little bad points like awful pathing and no "autonomous AI ammo pickup system" and inventory management, but they're really not that bad. Complainers just suck, alot. Arcade games have dulled their sense of the real thing
He's absolutely correct about the AI having unlimited resources and a crushing manpower advantage, it's just so lame I can't point it enough. Thank god there is MP!http://www.digitalmindsoft.eu/outcom...b/soldiers.png

A Very Interesting Review
I found this on the internet-http://thereticule.com/2009/03/men-of-war-the-verdict/.
I found the review extremely interesting to read. He gives a very favorable rating, but more than that I enjoyed the way he writes. Really good reviewer.

Re: A Very Interesting Review
A rather good interview, but too bad he was rather clueless at some points though
Like the game being "hard" and reinforcement points not working correctly in MP..
And yeh, his style of writing was quite entertaining but if the review dragged any longer it would've started feeling artificial.http://www.digitalmindsoft.eu/outcom...b/soldiers.png

Media reviews
A mini review- http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/20 ... -of-war-pc
As you can see, generally positive. And since it is read by so many people, reviews by big newspapers like these are more likely to influence opinion of a game than an internet gaming site.

IGN Review-8/10
Here is the IGN review-http://pc.ign.com/articles/963/963523p1.html.
Though the review is generally favorable I must say that I am a bit disappointed. IGN gave a buggy game like Empire Total War 9.4/10 and only 8/10 for Men Of War.
IGN'S review system seems like a bit fishy, maybe there are other factors than how good the game is which decides their rating.
I'm so sorry, I posted in the wrong forum by mistake. How do I delete this or transfer to General Discussion.
