Re: Reviews
Gamespot pulled the review off from the website and discuss further steps.

Re: Reviews
My comment in the gamespot forum:
"Im looking forward to the new review. I know its hard to believe that such unadvertised game could be that good, but this is that case.
I read reviews of MOW on other sites and the reviewers are mostly trying to find some negatives so they don't need to give the 9+ score which would represent its quality and that's a shame. Let's face it, steep learning curve and bad voice acting can't drag this game under 9.0! (mod adds skirmish which is even better because its dynamics campaign which lets you play skirmish with different objectives on map which you chose to attack)
Be advised that free content patch with new faction japan is under way and the mod comunity produces new maps and vehicles every week!!!"
Hope those suckers will read it!!!

Re: Reviews
well there are lot of things which needs to be improved on MoW
(e.g. AI sometimes acts absurdly stupid or does nothing at all or the correctly pointed out bad english voice acting)
i hope most of these issues are solved in patch and if not then in next one
and to stay on TOPIC:
here is list of reviews inside Czech Republic:

Re: Reviews
The thing is ... this is what I have compained about in this forum but devs didn´t care to listen or they couldn´t critizise the one doing the interface.

Today you have to make a two step configuaration to have it like a standard RTS control. If gamespot have problem doing that ... alot of other people will have that problem. Check Alternate Selection and check LMB Orders off.
It´s a big failure if a game is really good, but people stop playing the game before they realise it´s great. Those people wont recommend it to others.
The default should have been the standard controls from the beginning, if not that ... right after or during installation, people should have been asked if they wanted standard controls and also told that they can change to default by only checking "Standard RTS controls" and not as today do a two step config.
Well, I hope the devs learn from that misstake. They certainly loose people that would have liked the game by doing this kind of simple misstakes. I also hope that Gamespot can see throu these bad controls and give the game a fair review.

Re: Reviews
i full agree there was needed automated hint / confing screen
which when game is first played offers the user ability to choose various settings while EXPLAINING what it does (e.g. as part of first mission)
as .... people are by nature lazy beasts

Re: Reviews
After playing MoW in the last months i found other schemes annoying, but i don't blame those game for it.. until i see i cannot change it!! Maybe i´m old school but remapping keys is a given since last century 80"
Ther´s anything wrong with Mow interface/ controls. Quite the contrary you have the option to change almost anything to your likings. In fact this should count as a plus when reviewing the game... shouldn't it?
Not conforming with the trend of "dumbing" down the controls/ options (greatly enforced by cross-platform game production limitations) that unfortunately plagues the game industry, make it a bad thing ?! or less polished game !! - again quite the opposite.
Far Cry2, GtaV or even Daw2--- have better controls!? you cannot change a thing you learn how to play with it or you don't.. thats better!??.

Re: Reviews
Gamespot fixed their review and increased the score to 7.5:
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/men ... ead-review
This review makes me really shake my head:
http://cheatcc.com/pc/rev/menofwarreview.html
56%
We contacted the reviewer and asked him if he even used direct control as he doesn't seem to write anything about it, not to speak about driving tanks, weapon physics, armour penetration etc. etc.
He replied that he wrote about it and doesn't need to correct anything:
Yes, this is actually everything he wrote about direct control besides:"You'll constantly be toggling between real-time control and interface commands, a process which just doesn't feel natural."
Go figure! Tells you everything doesn't it?"I do appreciate the recent trend towards streamlining the micromanagement, and the addition of more real-time control."
As this wouldn't be fun enough, he permanently rants about bad controls, interface issues, excessive micromanagement, sloppy programming without naming once what issues he actually has. We asked him to actually name those as it could be expected from a professional reviewer, but we will see what happens.
Currently his review is sloppier than the voice acting he is complaining about
If you think the same and want a proper review here is the contact page:

Hey Instinct!
Have you contacted the guys at metacritic. They don't seem to have all the reviews in for calculating the total score. Many reviews from European countries, most in non english languages have been ignored. Maybe they are simply not aware of their existence. They need to be told.
A reasonably good review- http://www.bit-tech.net/gaming/pc/2009/ ... r-review/1 to take the mind of every Men of War lover from the farce at cheat code central.
