HDR - High Dynamic Range
What do you guys think of adding a HDR mod to the game?
I have the materials thats needed, but it need a little tuning first.
This is a project which I'm working with Silentspy.
I have 3 pictures which shows how the HDR was when it first was injected in the game:

As you guys can see, its way too much brightness.
The problem is that the options will be different for the typical scenario, as you can see on a day map it will be to bright, but after I tested the last mission on the German Campaign (Which is night) it was awesome.
I need to find something in between.
The framerate didn't drop much either, maybe 1-2 fps.
Whats your thoughts on this?

Re: HDR - High Dynamic Range
If it doesn't hinder gameplay and is a client side mod, go for it.

Also the voting question cannot really be answered with yes or no.

Re: HDR - High Dynamic Range
That's Bloom, not HDR
I wish MOW had the latter one though, since Bloom makes everything shiny, blurry and overly bright like in your screenshots. Does more harm than good, but in strick moderation it could be somewhat useful. HDR instead only enhances colours, and contrast, you can't use any transitional effects so that they would make sense in a RTS (moving from dark area to a bright one etc).

Re: HDR - High Dynamic Range
The whole meaning is to add a HDR effect, but thats just early testing.
I can add these things to the game; Better Bloom, Occlusion, Reflection, Motion Blur, Water Effects, Shadow Effects.
The last two is very unstable, same with Occlusion.
I hope to get this added to my mod.

Re: HDR - High Dynamic Range
Full screen Bloom, HDR or whatever you're going to call it isn't going to be very pretty imho. Maybe if it could be added only to specific things to create a "fire ripple effect" or to muzzle blasts it would make them prettier. Also motion blur for projectiles etc. But it definitely should not apply to the whole screen at once.

Re: HDR - High Dynamic Range
This is an overlay which goes all over the screen, which will f*** up the HUD too, sorry.
There is a fix for that, and thats what next on the list.

Re: HDR - High Dynamic Range
I don't think it's necessary to apply HDR to the whole screen, just a few entities would be fine, like armor plates, flame, projectile trails, muzzle flash etc.
