How to Signal Allies in MP?

I have been enjoying playing this game for the past few days.
It is so much more fun than CoH.

Is there a way I can signal my buddy when playing MP?
I would like to direct his attention to specific points in a map at times and find unable to do so without an indicator/marking/beacon/signal.

I am looking for something similar to what CoH offers:
Three signals: Red Signal to Attack, Yellow Signal to Defend and White Signal to Capture Point.

You contradict yourself pretty badly there.. Anyway, there is just one indicator which is used by pointing out the right spot and pressing N, there's nothing else.

    Keys for "Spread" and "Advance"?

In the options for the game, there are two mysterious commands "Spread" and "Advance" which seem to have no effect at all. Does anyone know what these do exactly?

    We need better/simplier controls

I have played several RTS. Lately Company Of Heroes and DoW2.

First I want to say I have played the demo several times. I am lost on this game. Its great and I am about to run and buy it when the stores are open! CoH is a great WW2 game, but this one is even better and have much more depth. Wow!

But the reason for this post is ...

MoW could have better controls. I have to deselect all the time, othervise I risk giving order I don't meant to do. The problem is that I use L-CLICK to both select and to move units.

    For example ...

If I have selected a unit with L-CLICK and then L-CLICK on ground abit away then that unit moves to that spot. If I thereafter want to select another unit. Then I have to each time deselect (with R-CLICK) before I do the new select with L-CLICK. If I don't do that and try directly select the another unit with L_CLICK I risk to accidently start walking with the first unit that I just moved. To avoid that I have to deselect every time.

When turning tanks I use R-CLICK+DRAG DIRECTION.

    Now ...

A simple solution (as in CoH) would have been using the standard solution that CoH have that actually is very simple/easy to learn and fault free. A much more simple and clear solution is ...

L-CLICK - only select a unit. When I L-CLICK I allways know I only try to select a unit and not moving anything. If I L-CLICK on ground, then I deselect current selected unit.
R-CLICK - Do something with selected unit, like move to spot if click on ground or attack target if clicked on enemy or enter vehicle if clicked on own or empty vehicle.
R-CLICK+DRAG DIRECTION - turn unit into that direction. Again R-CLICK is used to do something with selected unit. More consistent.

This way it´s more consistent and I can´t by acciddent move a unit and I instead can focus my mind on my tactic etc ... this way I have much more control on what happend when I L-CLICK or R-CLICK and I need to do much less unessessary deselect clicking all the time.

I would apprechiate if it would be change into this or at least we had this option, because I think this game is fantastic! The control just need to be more consistent and more clear.

Some more things .... GUI. If I select several units I would like to see a small symbol under each little soldier "icon" on lower right corner if the weapon they currently use is low on ammunition in backpack.

Now I dont have time to write more ... I have to buy the game. :=)

why not just redefine the keys in the options?

Nah, the default should be as good as possible. The way it works today is not good enough. If it can be done better, why not make it better for everyone. That way people will get faster into the real action, instead of getting enoyed about struggeling with the interface the first hours and more.

So, I have to get used to that!? I have to deselect every time before I select a new unit? Do you like doing that unessessary extra deselect click every time you want to select a new unit!? I can´t see any advantage having to do that, ... just disadvantages.

Why not just make a simplier solution ... when there obviously exist better solutions ...!? I want this game to be as good as possible, because the core of this game is amazing, but the control could be simplified abit more. That is what this thread is about, making the controls and interface as good as possible.

Re: Keys for "Spread" and "Advance"?

I think they are keys to the coming squad system.
Its not official tho, its just stuff I came over when modded some time ago.
Was icons for squads and tactical movements, nothing thats implanted in the game.
Maybe they just added it to tease. :insane:
