Re: Men of War: 3ds Max plug-ins

As far as I know, the plug-ins are made for 3ds Max 2009 but from what I´ve read, they do work with certain versions of 3ds Max 2010 as well.

Only certain versions? The one I have will be the 'standard' Windows XP/Vista Student Edition...

Re: Men of War: 3ds Max plug-ins

With certain versions, this is second hand info collected from Russian forums, it seems like one version of Max 2010 will work with the plug-ins, whilst another Max 2010 version wont work. I don´t know how 3ds Max is built, like if they have small internal changes depending whether they are made like early in the year or late etc. Why not download the plugins, add them, start up 3ds Max 2011 and see if they work or not?

When I´d access to 3ds Max 2009 at work, we installed the plug-ins made for 3ds max 2007/08, and all that happened were that a pop-up window appeared telling us that the plugins were made for an earlier version. When clicking away the window, 3ds Max started as normally, although of course, we couldn´t use the MoW exporter.

Re: Men of War: 3ds Max plug-ins

Well at the moment I have to download the file, which is 3gb so won't be done for a few hours, hence why i'm asking without simply giving it a go!

Am I correct in saying, however, that even without the plug in, I can still open models and then prepare them in a way that they can be used in MoW? (Exporting to a .mdl file, I assume?)

I ask this because I have managed to locate several free-to-use models on the internet, and would liek to try importing them.

No, if 3ds Max gives you a warning that the plugins are the wrong type for your version of Max, then you can´t use the exporter.
