First aid kits for auto-healing units.

I often wonder, is there much , or even any profit in first aid kits in such units' inventories?

You see, these units can supposedly use first aid kits for faster healing over shorter time, but the difference is rather negligible, I think, considering that:
-it isn't really of great value,
-units using kits are quite vulnerable, since they are sort of "paralyzed" for a duration of healing action in crouch, and don't fire back, or take any other action, unless you manually abort the healing, which makes kits even of lesser use, and,
-when out of combat, these units auto-heal briefly anyway.

That said, maybe it's better to have these first aid kits removed from such units' inventories, at least from one-man elite squads, like the saboteur, and, basically, from all infantry, who's purpose is more in infiltration, rather than holding the line?

No way, I've healed a bunch of stealth units after a messy encounter. If you don't want them just dump them out of the inventory, don't ask for them to be removed for everyone.

They heal so much faster, I use it all the time. Especially elites with their surplus of hitpoints in urban combat profit from it, if a guy takes the splash of a grenade he runs off around the next corner to heal, while his comrades guard him or run up and throw the next one.

If you want certain elites like stealth units to not pop their heads up, just let them lose the bandages. Like with AT infantry, when I buy them I drop the SMG coming with it.
    Best regards!

I would say that I use it all he time. Or rather, the men would use it by themselves often without any prompting.

Sometimes though, when I ask them to lie prone, they would pop up into bullet fire.

So disappointing to lose hero units because of this, and I often forget to get rif of the kits before it happens. After all, one can always scavenge it from corpses, which always come in copious amounts, in case of urgent need.

It would be nice if pretty much anything the unit did under AI could be turned on and off but probably would be asking a bit too much.

Looks like there are two fixes needed to solve your problems:

    Don't apply healthkit when prone.
Application of healthkit can be stopped at any time by a new order.

The workaround is insufficient because it leaves you without healthkits.
