New DLC skirmish or multi anytime soon
Hi to everyone, i was thinking the other day, are we gonna get any new dlc skirmish or multiplayer? Is the company in plans of a new dlc? May be bigger in size with more maps and skirmish coop mission? Around 5 or 10 euro price perhaps.

I wish they would follow Tripwire's example. They love to give huge free content packs. They've given free weapons, skins, vehicles, maps. The whole shebang. DMS would have my eternal praise to do that kind of thing (yes our free units and newer 3d models) But I would love to see free maps, vehicles and units, and skirmish maps. That's the kind of thing that pays for itself. When a company continues to patch and give free content years after release, the game still sees sales. When a stupendous mod comes along (like Dayz for Arma 2) you see a huge sales spike. They should give out something like the CK for Skyrim. Again something that though takes some time, helps them make more money in the long run.

havent they been giving out some models every now and then? sure update of existing ones not new ones but that is good enough to convince me to buy the game. the moddability of this game also allows large amounts of content made by the fan base to keep the game going such as the new skirmish missions, awesome vehicles by the 3d modellers.
they have the new japanese TD, 150mm mortar

Yeah I would love that too. But let's think why Tripwire has taken that approach with their Red Orchestra 2
1. The company is already well-known enough to attract attention of a large buyerbase. Would Tripwire to be able to produce free stuff for RO2 if it wasn't for the financial success and fame of RO1? If a guy random guy named Kristian Kramer just stated "Harro everyone. Buy my game, you get everything for free.", would the game be a financial success?
2. The company is big enough to effectively multitask. Surely Tripwire wants to more forward instead of just of just developing RO2 further? DMS is investing heavily on expanding, new business premises ect.
Overral Assault Squad seems to have been a very adequate success to get DMS some name and funds for future projects. Then it could very well be wise to take the approach the guys at Tripwire have taken.
One don't simply change the business strategy after a year and a half. You have to make it clear even before you publish the game. AS is is not a new game anymore, and patching won't go on forever. Why would free content be attracting now, when there won't be much of it anyway?
In my understanding DLC-money is used to develop the game further (aka fund the patches) while profits from the actual game go to expanding of the the company/future projects. Overral Assault Squad seems to have been a very adequate success to get DMS some name and funds for future projects. Then it could very well be wise to take the approach the guys at Tripwire have taken.
CK for MoWAS? Never heard of the editor :P? Kinda hard to expand from if the dev doesn't even own the game engine, only a license. If Instinct published the full SKD, he would get sued by Bestway.
btw, most of the playerbase already has atleast some of the DLC:s, according to Instinct. The mystery is why the maps don't get played very much.Last edited by Norbo; 02-07-2012 at 07:23.

People aren't willing to host the DLC maps in fear of not being able to attract players for a game fast enough. Hosting the DLC maps is pretty hit and miss from my experience. Sometimes you get a full house fast, many other times you just sit there alone forever. Not sure if it's actually people not having the DLC or rather just not wanting to join.

as far as dlc skirmishes especially dlc2 its easy to get people for them, word travels that dlc2 are quite good for coop. I really was hoping for some few custom vs maps to make it to mowas for free with a patch, as for dlc i would love to see some more skirmish dlcs but with dlc2 approach as far as small operations and do more with less.
