This thread is for those who like to make gifs, both animated and not. We're just as creative as the next artist I do believe...

With German helmets...

You've already seen some of my others here that Instinct added to the forums boards
. Instinct gave me a blank copy to work with and I've been experimenting with it for a little while now. Instinct and a friend of his created those emoticons we see here on these boards and many were Instinct's own designs. So a big toast for our creative admin

Re: GIFs and Animations
Very, very good job on those emoticons! Do you use Adobe's ImageReady to do them or?
I want pictures back to signatures :<

Re: GIFs and Animations
I started out using regular MS paint but a friend on another forum showed me a freeware called paint.NET which is much better than paint and easier to use than Abobe Photoshop for one of my limited skill set. Paint.NET has a great number of easily downloadable plugin features to enhance and create images with, some not found on Adobe. There's even a paint.NET forum full of short, concise tutorials making it somewhat easy for some brains of mush amatuer like myself to understand at least some of it. I create my images on paint.NET and then stack them using another freeware device my brother showed me called UnFreez. They're usually pretty large bytewise when I'm done using UnFreez so Instinct suggested I run them through Adobe Photoshop after I'm done. Works great and they get much smaller bytewise when I do so and they still look good too
.
I suppose I ought to take the time to try and learn how to use Adobe PS and the other related Adobe components but I absolutely hate wading through tech gibberish. Instead of a Texan I suppose I ought to have been born in Missouri. Show me and I can do. Talk at me or throw a bunch of tech in front of me and I just stare blankly like a cow chewing cud. Something's just not wired right in my head :P .

Re: GIFs and Animations
I'm still working on some of them, at least I'm thinking about how to make them look good before I start on them anyways
and I'm just adding them to the previous posting as I go.
No need for dozens of posts and it keeps them close together so one doesn't have to scroll up and down. There are a couple I'm going to redo because I don't like the way their eyes look. The wilting icon needs a pause or something I think. Maybe Instinct will like them, I don't know. He liked a few of the others anyways. He even added a very nice touch to this one in the slosh of the liquid and the blinking eyes
which gave me the idea to do the cowboys and beer. But I think if he added all these there'd be far too many.
I'm just playing around with them anyways. The ninja already existed from somewhere and was the exact same size as the others, I just added the shadow and moving eyes to it. I'm not sure but there might already be one out there with the moving eyes on it. I found that one as a still.
Right now I'm trying to figure out how to make the helmets move right on the confused one scratching his head. The head bashers were easy compared to that one. The rtfm and grandpa icons shouldn't be too hard though, I already made a grandpa with a cowboy hat on it. The waggling finger didn't show up too well though but it might with the smaller helmets. I'm not even going to touch the cheerleader. Adding a helmet to her... . I'm thinking of creating a couple that use a military salute but I'm not too sure about the german soldier. Was there another military salute used by the Bundeswehr other than the heil or would that be acceptable? I just don't want to offend our German hosts with the wrong posture
.
