Gamespy taken over.

I noticed i was able to login to gamespy using gamespy id also here still last hour.... http://www.gamespy.com/index/news.html

IGN seems to be aware of some issues and this is their statement

"Important Information

We are aware some of our customers are having login issues and are currently working toward a resolution. We are working around the clock to resolve and reply back to any/all customers having account issues."

So there is chance you will be able to login to ign using ur gamespy account l/p even if u have no ign account but we shall wait and see.

Negative, you cannot access the DB like that. You can only login to the top page, but cannot go further.

They removed ability to change nicknames but if you know ur gamespy email account and password then you should have no problem loging into lobby in mowas game.

Not sure how registering new account works, but I would think anyone getting game now would have to make new ign account and that would work for gamespy lobby login + cd key.

If you're buying the game from scratch, then creating the new account and registering your given CD-key works just fine, but
if you're buying a second-hand product, then you're bound to use the account of the previous user to which the CD-key of the game is bound to in this latter case.

Email + password does not work ingame, Gamespy username + pw is required. The Gamespy login on the gamespy webpage to the username is needed. Also, the ability to change the username is required.

It's not a second hand sale or anything like that. IGN just effed it up.

http://arena.gamespy.com/ should allow you to login using e-mail and after you log in it should give you an unique nickname near the top in the form of: "Welcome to GameSpy Arena Friend", where Friend is your unique nickname. That's the site I use for registering new accounts for the purpose of MoWAS.

Alot of people myself included on various forums like here and steam have been complaining about how they cannot edit or modify their gamespy id profile.

In my case ive been playing borderlands and i wanted to change my password, like alot of you i got the weird ign run around.
1st i tried logging into gamespy, it automatically redirects you to login into IGN.
2nd once i was in IGN i changed my password which had absolutely no effect on my gamespy id account.
3rd contacted IGN and they had no clue.
4th Bashed my head repeatedly on keyboard until i had a moment of clarity an epiphany of godlike proportions!

Dusting off the cobwebs in my mind i travelled down memory lane and REMEMBERED YES! I remembered what had to be done!

Even when gamespy was gamespy and you logged into their site you couldnt change anything on your profile. After gamespy was merged with IGN. Even IGN support forgot how it was done.

Ok ok ill get to the nitty gritty

step 1: Download gamespy arcade or gamespy comrade - which incidentally you cant from gamespy itself
If you go here http://www.gamespyarcade.com/ when you click the download for either of the above it redirects you to IGN -WAY to go IGN!!

So i downloaded it from CNET, make sure you pay attention during setup and check off all the toolbar crap. (unless you want them)

Step 2: Once installed in arcade goto gamespy top left and then edit profile change what you want and dont forget to hit update after especially with the password as it just shuts the window down after you enter your new password for the second time, so reopen it and hit update.

For comrade pretty much the same except you open actions top left and then edit profile again dont forget to press apply.
