Summary
Commanders of War III is a realism mod for the game Men of War: Assault Squad. Its main focus is larger battles with an emphasis on infantry and light-medium equipment and armor rather than heavy armor, a wide variety of units — especially for the infantry — and realistic tank combat.
Larger battles
The optionable CP limits have been dramatically increased — including an unlimited option, where the size of your forces is only limited by your resources. Consequently, you won't have to phase out obsolete units (by having them killed) so you can buy another unit that you need more at the time. A tank such as the PzKpfw III can remain useful throughout the game, even when the enemy fields heavier armor, since you can pull it back and use it to guard the rear or shell enemy infantry from afar when it's safe.
Tank combat
In Commanders of War III the combat range has been increased to 200m for the majority of tanks and guns, and all of the armor penetration values are based on @0° penetration; as a result, all tanks — even the heavy ones — are far more vulnerable, and lighter tanks have a better survivability against heavier ones. Special shells, such as HEAT, APCR/HVAP and APDS are also available, further helping tanks combat each other and adding to tactical depth.
Playtesters wanted!
The release of Commanders of War III is closing in. I have worked on it very actvely since November, and it will likely be finished in time for Christmas! It is currently in a playable state; there is just some fine-tuning to be done.
To ensure a high quality for when its released, I would like to urge everyone who's interested in playtesting it to drop me a line in a PM! As a modder, I sometimes make mistakes, and these are easier to spot with more eyes. Not to mention that feedback on gameplay, balance and historical accuracy are also highly valuable!
