Well we updated to RC1, encountering lots of problems, which hopefully will be fixed in the next few days!

Spanish (Argentinian) normal spanish is not available yet
Russian.

To change your settings go to your "User Control Panel"
Select "Board Preferences"
and choose your language!

No I'm not, Argentinian Spanish is not 100% regular Spanish, there are a few differences. That is why it is called Spanish (Argentinian).

Far as I know it is except we don't use ye and thee or thou over here in the States anymore(lol). We have different dialects of English here in the States but we all learn from the same English book as the Britains do. Even those funny sounding Canadians and Australians learn the King's English. I can't seem to find any references to Argentinian Spanish anywhere. I've got five translator tools on my comp and none of them have it either. Since I live so close to the border here I'm subjected to quite a few hispanics but I've yet to meet a one that has refered to the Spanish they spoke as Columbian, Cuban, Guatamalan, or Mexican. Hey Instinct, where did you find that language pak?

US english is not the same like the British one, for example, elevator = lift , curb = kerb and so on. Especially new era words are different. Same goes for Spanish.
This language pack is an official supported one by phpbb boards.

Since the maximum connection error appears more and more often, we are trying to change our database server by switching the mysql database. We hope to encounter no errors.

I updated forum style, changed a bit of the layout and added a portal.

The portal layout is not finished, and the forum layout will be changed too, for better readability..., but now, it's late and I'm tired... :sad2:

Today we changed the old wiki into a new and different wiki!

What is better:
*It is integrated to the forums, so you don't need double accounts, every forum member can post articles there
*Better administration, only forum members are allowed to post and edit articles, guests can only read
*Better user interface and optimized for medium size wikis
*Easier custom style configuration
*No MySQL database necessary, which makes it easier for us to maintain it

Make sure you are logged in in the wiki and yes I'm still transfering articles, any help appreciated, though you need to copy the links of every page and change the path ...wiki/.. into ...wiki2/... , if you use the old one.

Added filebase to upload mods on our server (currently disabled), no mods larger than 50mb for now.

Nah, I´m just kidding. However, I ain´t sure that it is such a wise thing to divide up the site into several different sub-forums depending on which language you speaks/write. Don´t misunderstand me, I would have prefered to be able to write in my own native language as well but one of the biggest drawbacks in my opinion with several subforums for each language is the fact that most people will only post in their own native subforum (Germans will write in German, Italians in Italian etc) which in the end means that information will be "hidden" for those who cant read, for example, Italian.

I´ve seen this happen before on several scale modelling sites (like www.missing-lynx.com (http://www.missing-lynx.com)) which was THE best site for getting information about WWII and post-wwII armor etc before they started to divide up the site into several subforums and I do not want to see the same thing happen with this site.

Also we won't increase the amount of forums for a good while since it increases management work a lot.

Sounds OK to me. I was just afraid that a lot of useful information would disappear from us who cant read all the different languages. Take a look at the Official Best Way forum, there is wealth of information to be read IF you could read Russian (and no, Google cant translate good enough to let you understand everything) and also several documents and tips regarding both the editor use and 3d modelling. It´s just too bad that all those documents cant be find in English... :(

That would be awesome but I dont think that will happen. After all, how many new posts have you seen in the Russian subforum this year?

Please, dont misunderstand me, I too would prefer my own native language, my fear was just that a lot of information would disappear from those who cant understand the language. This is one of the drawbacks of we all not speaking the same language (preferably Swedish... ;) ) and one of the advantages of the Russian offical Best Way forum - All user speaks/write Russian (at different levels of skill). And, to use english on a Russian forum isnt the best way to make you popular, no matter whether it is a gaming forum, a scale modelling forum etc, thats my experience at least.

'Its fun to see that some of the BTRH team does post here at DMS now and then, but it would be even more fun if they would appear more often and reveal some of their modding knowledge.

You can change the time stamps in the forums to a way more comfortable version now.
If you go to your User Control Panel, than Board preferences you can select an option with "custom". Select it and accept.
It will display you the time gone past since the post was created.

Guests have this feature enabled by standard.

I am not confident this is the relevant thread, but all others were even less relevant. I had a problem logging in earlier after mistyping my password. This led to my login screen having a captcha. Either it is generally so bad, or it is particularly bad for colorblind and color-deficient people (like myself), but I had to type in my password and try those captchas a good 50+ times, getting error messages and leading me to utter frustration. I still can't believe I passed eventually.

The advertisement system changed, all forum members until level 10 will see them. At level 10 the ads are removed, as the user provided a lot to the content of the website. (This system may be changed after somewhile.)

Discussions about how to remove ads on the website will be countered with a ban.

We aren't allowed to motivate you guys to click randomly on them, what you can do is clicking on something that may interest you, or clicking on the amazon links in our buy games website if you are keen on shopping. Most hackers leaves a "Signature Page" behind.
But then again, you only need the username and password for the FTP Server and you have most control over the files uploaded, but not the domain itself.

Some forums accounts were deleted due to inactivity, invalid email and little to none posts in the forums.

Members with more than 10 posts shouldn't fear being deleted, however it never hurts to check if your email address is still valid, so you can reactivate your account if you lost your password, or to receive private message notifications etc.

I think it's alot nicer to see that all remaining forum users have atleast valid email addresses or are active. Makes the number more impressive than an uncleaned forum.

The remaining users have valid email and valid activation, or atleast long term activity.

Well, as you noticed we had some redesign and bugfixes on the website.


Today however the website is very very slow and I talked to our provider, they assured me this will be gone soon and also that the reconfigurate the servers since they had problems lately. Once they are done, it should work properly again and hopefully better than before.



Also, this website is not supporting Internet Explorer 6, it is very shocking for me that 20% of all users use IE6. If you use this browser update to IE7 or change to Opera, Firefox.

We were thinking of disabling the website for IE6, however I know that some people are surfing from their companies PCs and may have only little influence on the browsers installed. I hope those who have the possibility start upgrading soon, IE6 is not only completely outdated and causes issues on most websites, but also has significant security holes.

I like that the nick name and avatar is finally located on the left side of the forum (as I am most used to this layout from other forums that I visit on a regular basis).

The colors... I very much prefer the old look with no "fancy" colorization. Black text on a white background is far the most easiest to read in my opinion.

It's too hard to maintain with special features. I tested it on 2 systems and both were drastically slower with that design. We may consider it when we plan to completely rework the website.

I banned them and just deleted the posts that I can delete. I can not delete posts in news section. A direct action by admin is needed.

Well, as you most likely noticed, we had a long down-time of the forums including the news segment of the website. We apologize for the inconvenience, the SQL server had major problems and wasn't fixed until now by our provider.

I'm a semi-long time member, but do not participate in discussions.
However, I love SHWWII and the forum and am always logging on to see what is new.

But now I am totally confused. Did you redo the site? I try to log in to the Soldiers forum but get this:.

Your requested page can not be found, make sure you typed in the url correctly.

I converted my password and it allowed me to get here but others areas do not permit me to enter.

Is this still a work in progress? Any info will help.

Some repetive forums have been removed, specifically in the Men of War section. The Soldiers forum is now part of the Men of War Forum, future Soldiers discussions are allowed to be held in there.

Now all game and community forums display all threads of the last year by standard, instead of 30 days.

More changes will follow during the weekend.

We added a homemade new version of the Steam app for your signatures, by simply adding your SteamID to your profile settings:
