Mod Info

Carbide is a new mod which is going for an uncompromising level of realism, increased depth and "de-equalized" asymetrical gameplay.


Core Features


TACTICAL MACHINE GUN UPGRADE
The machine guns are represented with 3 different basic types: LMG, MMG and HMG

LMG
Regular 1 man portable machine gun in light configuration. Small magazine/belt capacity

MMG
Heavier than a LMG, larger in inventory, more ammo which is distributed among assistant loaders, larger belts. Each MMG comes as a 3 man team (gunner + 2x assistant loader).

HMG
Standard MG tripod with a very large belt, can deploy a concrete bunker.

TACTICAL RPG LAUNCHER UPGRADE

I read a bit about the effective range of each AT weapon in MOWAS and they are very different. So based on their real world differences, I changed the ranges of each to reflect this:

PZF60: 30m / 200mm
PIAT: 30m / 130mm
Panzerschreck: 55m / 180mm
Bazooka: 45m / 126mm
M18: 70m / 64mm
Type 4: 45m /150mm

Flamethrower update

Flamers
The picture above basically explains it. All tank based flamethrowers will get an ingame range of 45m. The man-portable ones will keep their 25m range. This is historically backed up with the higher pressure a tank-mounted flamer thrower can achieve.
If you look close, you might notice that the flame jet also looks different. They are now narrow jets and they fire much quicker than in stock MOWAS, giving them a more "liquid jet" appearance. Also I edited them to eat around 50% less fps (at least on my system). While still retaining their impressive look.
The Churchill Croc will get a timer reduction by 1-2 minutes and the soviets will get something with a flamethrower on it too, which will be available at the same time as the Sherman Zippo.
These changes will make flamers more accessible earlier in the game and still give them a chance to be of use later in the game. Also since the concrete bunkers are super resilient to tank shells, these are your new bunker busting weapons.

The OT-34
As the screenshot says, a standard T-34/76 with a flamerthrower mounted inside the hull. Its main weaponry remains. It costs 3 HP like the Sherman croc and is available at the same time. It is the most mobile flamer tank in the game currently which should prove to be a terrifying enemy against infantry.
This tank and its tank flamethrower is part of the program to lift flamer units out of obscurity in MOWAS(tm)

Rifle Combat
If you follow the discussions on the forums about rifles, many people have the idea that rifle lack their realistic role in the game. Their job is to engage enemies effectively on ranges beyond of what SMGs can reach.
In order to materialize this, I did the following adjustments to rifles:

Range
All standard rifles get 80m, Snipers still have 100m, and scoped semiautmatic ones get 100m too.

Damage
The damage curve has been flattened on a certain "level", more specifically, the damage drop will less over large distances. A hit to the chest from a bolt action rifle will now remove 30-40% of the health of regular soldier at maximum range. I left the different damage variations for rifles as is, so there might be slight differences.

Marksmen
Russian and German players can buy single "marksmen", carrying either a SVT40 with a scope or a G43 with a scope. They do have the same range like normal snipers and the same vision. However they lack the aimed shot ability and they can not scout/reveal targets with their scope. They are "just" very accurate riflemen.

Regular infantry + Semi auto rifles
All regular infantry units of countries that have semi auto rifles will get one semi-auto rifle (unscoped) replacing one bolt-action rifle.

Penal company dudes. They replace the partizans as cheap throwaways. However I did not just replace the names and skins. The officer, a NKVD guy, carries a pistol and mosin and is a skilled shooter (skill level3 with both). Please note that I do write my own description texts, these are not simple copies from a wiki article.

The partizans (or more specifically their concept) will be moved to the 1P hero units.

And if you do not believe me, play this map with your GF (Girlfriend, not GFORCE) and because the map look sooooooo casablanca, she will instantly want to marry you because she thinks you are humphrey bogart.

You might want to consider equipment of rocket infantry.
I doubt that there were soldiers who were running with Bazooka, Thompson and ammo for both of them.
Support guy has one SMG already and I think that's enough for this squad.

Hello!

It's a very impressive work (I know it took long time to do such)!

Just a remark, about range of riffles and scoped riffles, even I know it's sound like the real scale range, i think it could kill the gameplay in skirmish missions (I was thinking of remove the sniper in my own skirmish mission or reinf very later, because it's too easy with him!).

Unfortunately I did not consider skirmish because I never play it. But I guess adjusting some prices in skirmish could fix certain units being overpowered. I would do that and perhaps turn my custom map into a skirmish at some point, however that depends on wether a playerbase will form around the mod.

I play MOW AS in french but when i turn on your mod my game change in full english, it's possible to activate the mod without changing the language ?

I think that would require a custom localized french language file or at least adding the new units to the french localization file. And since my french is not thaaaat good I think I would have to skip that for now.

Hello.

Just for say i have to desactivate for ever your mods, why ?

Because when i play in LAN (skirmish mode) with my friend, the game lag (second by second) after a small moment playing, i have think it's my or his PC, graphics or processus on windows, and after all test, when we desactivate mods, and play with same options on the same maps, no more problems...

I'm sad because your mods sounds good but this problem is so important, so i have to desactive it.

Looking forward to having this fixed, I really liked all the new features! Especially the light, medium and heavy machine gun setup and the deployable concrete bunker.

After it stopped working I tried to mod the deployable bunker back in myself but totally failed lol

I say go for it.

You can then focus on the Flammpanzer and simply release a hotfix when its ready.

No point holding the entire thing back for one unit (even when that unit is awesome like the Flammpanzer) lol

I have the mod working again (maps load without crashing). Left to do is to align the mod with the new features of the new patch while picking out which stuff I want and leave out what is not wanted. Then I have to load a map and spawn every single unit to make sure it won't crash again.
Then it is ready for release.
