Hey folks,
here's the thread for any releases of my Skirmish Advanced Project.
Many of us were a little bit disappointed when realising that you have the same limited troops in every Skirmish mission. No matter which time or scenario. That's kinda...erm...boring!
That's why i started Skirmish Advanced because i love too play around in this awesome Skirmish Maps and they just SCREAM for being improved. So in the End of the Project i hope we have 15(or 16) more diversified Skirmish Maps.
Im using this Post to release new Maps. So just check this one out from time to time.
Additionaly vote for your favorite Nation in Skirmish to prioritize it in further development.
And last but not least - Feedback.

Installation:
1) Extract SkirAdv_....rar
2) Copy the SkirAdv_... folder into your MoW:AS Mods folder
3) Activate the Mod and start the mission via Multiplayer or Skirmish Singlerplayer

I'm wondering will you try to improve historical accuracy on the other maps? (E.g. There shouldn't be Chaffee's in Normandy, or Tigers and Stugs during battleaxe for example).
i will try to avoid big historical mistakes yea.
So every map will be a little bit different in terms of units which are available and you will encounter ;)
Dont expect a 100% historical accuracy but more accuracy than in the original missions.

Regarding Operation Battleaxe;
If you haven´t done so already, the Wespe should also be removed, since it came into use first after the North Afrika fighting had ended - best replacement would be the towed 105mm Lh18.
The Pz.Kpfw. IV G did see action in N.A. and should´ve replaced the Tiger I as the "heavy" tank for the Germans.
The Mk. 7 "Tetrarch" didnt see action in N.A. and you really should add the tank that turned the N.A. fighting around for the British, namely the M3 Lee/Grant.
And if we should be really picky... :P the M3A1 Halftrack didnt enter British service until early 1943, almost 2 years after Operation Battleaxe took place - a better replacement vehicle should´ve been the Bren Carrier.

Schelle did you start working on these before the patch? When I call in reinforcements they seem to scatter instead of running in together towards the call in point as a group. In order to have them run in smooth without problems you'll have to copy the current levels and edit them over again.
Another suggestion for historical accuracy: On battleaxe perhaps you could give the SMG squad the 1928 thompson since that was the common smg used in the North African campaign.

its kinda hard to make it so accurate when its a 1941 scenario since MoW doesnt offer that much units from early stages of war. but im gonna take a look at Wespe and Pz4G
well the M3 Lee wasnt used in africa before 1942 :(

Would you be able to download the latest patch and then build future skirmishes from there? Maybe sometime later you can redo the 1st 2 skirmishes so that reinforcement call ins are smooth?
It looks freaking good, gonna try it later today :) Everything improving the single player aspect is a big plus!

is MoW:AS downwards compatible?
so what you mean with reinforcements scatter? you mean that infantry sometimes stops when you're giving them no further order after calling in?

Yes that's what I mean. This was fixed with the patch that came out for the vanilla skirmish maps (they now head towards the destination point in a formation). I'm using the steam version, isn't the patch out there for retail editions?
Go to the patches section of the main forum here, then scroll down and you should be able to download the latest one (though there's another one coming very soon).

I think you have to re-extract the original maps and modify them again after patching the game for it to work though. That's what I had to do when I tried editing them.
I would download it if it didn't mess around with the infantry squads, all Rifle/SMG squads is stupid.

I had played the German #1, I called a 57mm AT, but it is controlled by ally, though it did go to and the place I had ordered when calling. I am using the 1.81.2.
hey, i guess you mean the 75mm PaK40 ?
i was just testing it with the patched version and it was given to me and i had control of it.
So maybe you are using another mod parallel to Skirmish Advanced?
I had the same issue while making "Invasion of Manchuria". The game just refused to give the Zis-2 to the player, so that after hours of trying to find a solution i decided to deactive the Zis-2.

Schelle I think you forgot to do something with the Russian skirmish. After you downloaded and installed the patch you need to extract the skirmish from the map.pak and then start editing it from there. In that mission the grouped infantry still come in a scattered way. If you play one of the vanilla skirmishes after patching you'll notice that the the grouped infantry run in a rectangular formation.
USA Mission #2 - Overlord has bee released.

Really great work. Played Co Op on BAttleAxe with a friend and was very enjoyable to have more variety.
Keep up the good work. Can I request the next map to be Arnhem for UK?
Very compliments, your skirmish missions are far more enjoyable than normal ones. It is very disappointing that DMS has done every mission equal each to another.

very nice :) however on Battle-axe the brittish armored car is now alligned to the first central flag ( AC is the left flag normally ) was this on purpose or? Also occasionaly the Pak40 on outskirts bugs, and sovereignity is not given to the player ( it stays green and you can't control it ) but I don't know if you can fix that..
also any plans for japan any time soon? :D

In the normandy skirmish there are 3 German tank crewman visible on the northern border of the map. In the editor I checked around and noticed you probably deleted one of the vehicles because there's just a tank commander standing where it should be. Maybe you should put in a German vehicle in that position or delete those crewmen that shouldn't be there.

Patch removed stug4g so crewmen are there cause their hidden vehicle is no longer around, you have to place stug3g into skirmishes that used stug4g and those crew in it.

This could be either cause pak or crew are set to ai control or they use same waypoint as something else, although those are just my guesses.

Its possible that either crew or pak has ai assigned or no extra waypoint added for it (like reusing waypoint already used by another item) or tag misspelled?
when I order Pak 40 at gun, i always get 88 flack gun, and i have the latest patch :D

You can do this by editing the 0.mi file in the mod directory. Search the file for the string 'reinforcements'. Change the value from 2000 to 999999 (that's the max value). When this is done, search again for the string 'easy'. Change the value from 1000 to 999999. If you want more resource points for the normal hard and heroic, change those values too , the will be below where you found the value for easy. Save and exit.
If It worked, you should start with 999999/999999 resource points.

Hey,
First of all, would it be possible to have a one big download where all the maps are combined into a single file?
Secondly, I'd strongly recoomend for having the infantry squads varied in terms of weapons. It simply makes no sense to have SMG and RIFLE squads separately. Realistically speaking, infantry squads are consisted of different weapons and specialisations.
Thirdly, are the enemy reinforcements also slowed down? In the vanilla, they rush with tanks and infantry every two minutes, and if you made the timers long for the player, does the AI still get infinite tank support every two minutes?

btw getting the best tanks at the previous two points is always kind of worthless to me - at that time I've already got a force so formidable that getting a Caliope or Jagdpanther would not make *any* difference, so I never buy them.
anybody else is getting this feeling?
On what dificuty are you playing on? Fog of war?

fog of war, normal difficulty.
It's not a bug, of course, but just a rant on the game mechanics. Perhaps, if the final point was more distant, if would make sense, but as it is, buying Kingtiger is really unnecessary, for me, at least, because if I occupy the pre-final points, capturing the final one is really a short walk.
so i have to give the enemy a much more stronger counterattack?
edit: maybe play on Hard then

Just a question (sort of related to skirmish): ''Can multiplayer modes be modified to be played against AI?''. Like in a normal skirmish where one sets sides and then races to control the strategy zones? I would like that. The standard skirmish is not exactly a skirmish (i.e. multiplayer mode against AI).

Better idea is to have lets say play as soviet on caen outskirts etc... flip aorund sides on different maps etc... it would take a bit of work though.

Schelle i have got to say, this mod is amazing, but the guy who said about the King Tiger has a point, i think we should have access to all vehicules from the begining, having the king tiger to attack the last flag is kinda pointless, could you try to make it so we already have the infantry and tanks unlocked? this would make this the best mod possible. If you play these skirmishes on hard or heroic, then having access to king tiger near end is actually quite big because if you dont capture last point before 2nd ai counter comes thats when it can get really tough. And no, we should not have access to evertyhing at start, it would make a lot of items pointless and game way too easy.

Just want to say awesome work! I'd just finished all the skirmish maps and now I can start them all over again with new units opening new strategies (and challenges).
If I had one wish "medic" name seems looks wrong on the reinforcements tab in the USA#2 mission (the first one I tried) and as an Australian I wish the Anzacs could be unlocked somewhere ... but they're tiny details in the face of all your excellent work. Thanks!

If you play these skirmishes on hard or heroic, then having access to king tiger near end is actually quite big because if you dont capture last point before 2nd ai counter comes thats when it can get really tough. And no, we should not have access to evertyhing at start, it would make a lot of items pointless and game way too easy.

If some one would be willing to further explain how to mod units etc, I have figured out how to move them around within the 0.mis file so that their costs and when they are unlocked is different, but I'm wondering about how to add other units into the mission.

Great work, with this mod the boring skirmish is getting a life.
By the way, do i have to play all normal skirmish missions before i can play yours, or how do i activate them as single player?

News for the new Maps? :D
Hey, I've gone through most of the maps so far and they're great but I'm having an issue with the buy menu and I wanted to see if anyone else was getting it if it was just me. Every time I have a few units cued up, the long cool-down times ends up cluttering my buy menu. For example, if I just ordered an AT gun, a supply truck, and a armored car, and I want to order a basic infantry squad, I can't scroll high enough on the infantry list to actually order them. Any one else have a similar problem? Thanks.

Schelle, have you found a way to use the multiplayer unit reinforcement menu
other than the skirmish menu? A lot of players are interested in using it to play
skirmish games.....

They do, yes. Hope to see more of them in the future, these are some of my favorite mods :)
Does anyone else notice an inordinate amount of enemy snipers on any of the Advance maps? Maybe its just poor memory, but I don't recall the AI using 5 or 6 snipers at any flag when playing Vanilla AS with on Normal and above.
Yeah, the enemy puts out a ton of em. While its smart, it really makes reinforcing or holding your lines impossible since they'll thin you out every chance they get. And due to slower reinforce time, you cant make up for the losses.

I noticed that in the Commonwealth mission, you can order Harley Davidson but the will never arrive the battlefield.

In the first German mission the Units are coming through the river to the battlefield and mostly they don´t arrive the battlefield because the cannot leave the river. Why are the entering the battlefield from the river? that sucks. And the Flak 18 never arrives on battlefield, you can order it 10 times and you will never see it on the screen.
