There's a fella on the Codemasters site who really needs some help from the multiplayer gamers for Soldiers. If you could give him a hand I'm sure he'd greatly appreciate it ;) .

For LekyIRL

I use Gamespy to connect to Soldiers games.Everything works fine, when I find a game I want I click "Join Game",the game loads up then a screen pops up saying "Searching for games".It stays like this for 5+ minutes before either saying connection failed or it just keeps going.

What am I doing wrong? :\

When I try to click create game(in Gamespy)it tells me my external IP is different to my internal IP, could this be part of the problem?

I gave him the link to these forums as well so maybe he will read your responses here if you don't wish to post at Codemasters. Sad to see how few people are still visiting there anymore  .

Did you update your version with the multiplayer combat upgrade?

Did you forward those ports:

?

No, this is not the problem, ignore this advise from GameSpy Arcade.

Try open this other ports :
2303 for Soldiers
2400 for Gamespy
6700 for Gamespy
3210 for client Soldiers

The 1.12.2 is not needed. It is an old patch so whatever ya do don't install it, as that could give you even more serious problems. Do you have a Gamespy Login? Answer might make things clearer ;) ...

Do you have anything that might block certain connections like Peer Guardian?

Can you host a game? If you are able to host, can others connect?

I have a problem, that when I do not deactivate PeerGuardian, every game that uses a certain gamebrowser (like for example Gamespy) locks itself up for a relatively long period.

Try to deactivate windows firewall or other firewall program to test.

hmm mine is not equal... in the first line Host IP Address there is only one IP ---> 192.168.1.1 :3210

In your router, there should be an option to specify an IP address for "DMZ". Enable DMZ on your internal ip address which is 192.168.1.1 in the screenshot. You can confirm your internal IP address by opening a command prompt (Start Menu | Run | type "cmd" | hit enter) and then typing "IPCONFIG" and hit enter.

By enabling DMZ for your internal IP, it should remove any blocking the router is doing.

If that doesn't work, run each of the following commands at a command prompt:
1. ipconfig /release
2. ipconfig /renew

If all else fails you could just plug your internet cord directly into the modem (if its separate from your router).

Also, you should post a screenshot of how you forwarded the ports in the router; its possible you could have done this incorrectly.
