View Full Version : FoW - PC Gamer version
Quick question: In June a 'PC Gamer' version of FoW was released.
Anyone know what version of the game this is i.e. is it already patched?
Also, does it offer anything that the original version does not?
Thanks.
To answer my own question (125 views but not one reply - is that a record?), the PC Gamer version is 1.04.1 so it is pretty much patched up. There appears to be a small 1.04.1a patch that I need to add that increases frame rate.
So I have decided to give FoW another go, got it in top condition from Ebay for £2.19 including postage, not bad.
It still looks so promising in the tutorial but just goes to chaos inthe first minute of the German campaign so I have installed Rubini's Improved_SP_Campaign v1.0 mod, which looks like an excellent piece of work and am hoping that will save the game for me. Time will tell if it helps.
Any update to recommended mods for SP gratefully received.
For anyone else with this version of the game, it didn't seem to like patch 1.04.1a on top and I had to re-install it.
In any case I don't think I can do this game (even with the SP mod); it looks great but is just noisy, uncontrollable chaos. I have just started the German campaign and that is enough to make me want to sit and wait for MoW (and hope for the best with that) and otherwise wait patiently for Albus's Soldiers mods, which I can be sure are going to be fantastic.

The 1.04.1a version should not make any problems, make sure you have 1.04.1 installed.
As stated above, it is 1.04.1 out of the box. I wondered if it was something to do with my F-Secure antivirus software but even when I 'allowed' the game in that it did not help (although maybe I should have restarted the PC... hmmmm......). Anyway, I can't see me playing the game; it is so annoying. I'm waiting on MoW (you'd better be doing a good job! :baseball: ) and Soldiers mods from star Albus.
Mess around in the editor. You can make great screenies and just make a nice skirmish like i do. FoW singleplayer missions aren't as good as Soldiers.
