View Full Version : I am confused - Outfront? What is it please?
Please explain someone.
This forum is for 'Outfront 2 and its predecessor Faces of War'. I know Faces and I know Outfront was the 'prototype' name for that game - and a name that features in Soldiers mods - but what is Outfront 2 all about?
Is a FoW2 in the offing and if so is it official or a mod community production?

Outfront 2 is the working title for the sequel of Faces of War.
This is the official developers forum. The game itself gets developed by Best Way and DMS.
Actually Outfront 2 will consist out of the Faces of War fundament, plus 2 stand alone expansion packs which get released in the CIS. All those combined give a new game with a lot of new features and content called Outfront 2 for now.

Any idea on timing? I got rid of FoW in a tantrum when it was new but now I am out of Soldiers mods I will buy it again some time and get the latest patch, which I did not have at that time (do you know if more patches are needed/will come?).
Maybe I should wait if there might be the whole package to buy of the base game plus two expansions?
Meanwhile I found some more news on the forum about it and it said some missions will be smaller squads - that is good as the large scale chaos of FoW compared to Soldiers spoiled it for me.

Yeah I recommend reading the Developers update, they show pretty much about the game.
The next bunch of developers updates will come after the beta.
There won't be anymore patches for FoW, so you should maybe wait.

Why the title "Outfront"? Forgive me, but it's just like saying "Out front of my house, backyard. car. etc". Like the title's like a comedy show or something. It has no battle related or action/war related theme. Why not "Battlefront" or something WW2 RTS catchy theme. - I must say the "Faces of War" theme really fit the game very well.
The title's like say imagine, "Outfront 2" then a picture of the characters in Redneck Rampage below the title.
Just my opinion guys. I really love what you developers did with Soldiers and FOW - it really changed my view on RTS games - but I can't get over with the "Outfront" title. I love the work you guys do so I'm just pointing out my opinion - before critics bashed the title.

How much time do we have for beta? How long is it going to last from now? And are there new patches planned?

It will last until we are pleased with the result and yes, there will be further patches.
Instinct, where do I find the Developer's update? (Er...are you not the developer, could you not update me please?).
I searched Gamespot and retail outlets like Amazon, Play, Blah - no sign of any Outfront announcement or listing so I guess it is some way off? Sounds like it will be worth the wait though.
Also, does it have a good SP campaign (I never play MP as yet so I hope so)>.

Sorry to pester but anyone got an idea when the game will be finished and released? I don't find much news on the main website or the Developers Forum.
I suspect the answer will be 'when you are happy with it' but given the complexity of hi-tech game programming (and the state you see some released in, I'm still thinking ARMA with APC's with triangular wheels...) that is pretty much open-ended...
Anyone want to stick their neck out? Even down to Q1-Q4/pick a year...?

Yo Instinct your info in your post said that FOW2/OF2 had the FOW fundamental in it does that mean when I buy FOW2/OF2 I'm buying FOW again?

No, I'm sure it will not include the Singleplayer of FoW, since the gameplay changed drastically.
You are paying for 2 stand alone expansions combined in one game.
I'd still like someone to be a bit more firm on timing for release. Even if it's a year or so away, slow news is better than no news...

DMS hasn't got its hands in making of FoW. Only Best Way and it's publisher Ubisoft has.

Yes, same people, other publishers. And its not FoW2, it is Outfront 2 :)
