View Full Version : What gaming systems do you own?
What gaming systems do you own? Do you preferr next-gen consoles or PC gaming? What's your first console? Do you use mobile telephone for gomes too?
For example: my first console was a Sega MasterSystem; I own a Sega Mega Drive, a Playstation One, a PSP and, it's clear, a Personal Computer; in "partnership" with my brother I own a PS2, a PS3, a Wii and a Nintendo DS.
Please use this thread to discuss gaming system only; if you would discuss the games use this other thread (http://www.digitalmindsoft.eu/forums/viewtopic.php?f=127&t=1023)

I only play games on my PC and I do not own any other gaming "rig" at all. My cell phone (when I do have it turned on (it can be turned off for weeks)) is used solely to talk to other people, nothing else. I do prefer to be unreachable when I´m off-work or out walking with my dog etc. I have absolutely no need to be reachable 24/7.
~Zeke.
I perfer PC mainly because you canchange things, and i find it easier to get into multiplayer games. But I also have a PS@ and 3 and a PSP, and a whole lot of games for them :insane:

no consoles here  after getting a PC i wouldnt go back to consoles which i did used to have (original nintendo, sega master system, sega megadrive, PS1, PS2, Xbox)
the price of games for consoles is prohibitive, when you consider that a brand new PC game costs as much as a 2nd hand console game!!!
consoles do have theyre place though as who wants to let theyre 5yr old loose on theyre keyboard with the kids hands covered in god only knows what
mobile phone is LG Viewty touchscreen (3yrs old) ive only got that because my sisters contract gave her a newer one, the phone is for phone calls only!!!
EDIT: i like Zekes attitude of only accepting calls on his mobile during his working hours  , brilliant man!!!

Only my PC. I believe I have some games on my cellphone too, but I only use it for talking and occasionally sending textmessages.

No gaming "rigs" now.
My ps2 give out on me last week after my younger brother used it.
But I only have my high end computer and well, I think my phone is from like 1999.
~Feared.
PS2, Xbox360 and some old stuff some place around here.. *looks around and shrugs*
along with my PC gaming stuff, most of my games are for PC, other than the CoD games and some other shooter games and guitar hero stuff.
but other than that... cell phones for gaming?
i keep a cell phone on hand, but i can honestly say i am one of the few young people around that has his cell in the list of "most under used things" heh... mostly due to a lack of people i want to taik to, but you get the idea.
*waves the PC flag with pride* :typing:
PC of course and Nintendo DSLite when i am out. ;)
I started out with an Intellivision, I have always been drawn to strategy games, Utopia was my first strategy game. Then we got an Apple IIe, Not many games for that system, was not till later I could afford a real system, A Nintendo one filled the gap.
But once I was able to get a computer, no more console, I can not get into a game that does not offer many choices, or options to customize the game to make it your own.
Consoles are one size fits all, too bad I am not able to fit into that size.
So computer all the way, if it all goes toward console systems then I guess I will have to learn to program and make my own games.

the great thing about being a PC game player is that console games will never exist without PC's to make them, so there will always be games for the PC even though ive read people post on other sites that the platform is going to die soon
i think the person posting that must have been a 12yr old console fan and immature for his age!!!
now that i really think about it, i suppose my first system was a box (dont remember the name, it was mid/late 1970's) that had 2 wired control panels which played a black and white version of "pong" (a bat and ball game)
it was fantasic at the time because you could play against a friend, and was one of the earliest player v player games/systems made,
one of the best things about it was that the whole family wanted to play it, everyone wanted to beat each other, looking back the simplicity of the whole thing was beutiful!!!
I have my laptop that I use for mid-end games and school related stuff.
I tend to play more FPS on my Playstation 3, since I both get a stable fps and I mostly have a decent K/D ratio.
(Currently having 2.54 on Bad Company 2 demo, so I'm rocking :realbig: )
I also have a Wii in my basement.

PCx2, Xbox 360 and a Nintendo one(from 1986) :D That nintendo owns Super mario ftw too bad that it's hard to get working every time you try to play :( 360 is mainly for FPS games since I think that they are better on consoles. I do have a phone with N-Gage and Worms on it but phones aren't for gaming... I use mine to contact other ppl and as MP3 player :)

I have stuck with PC since i was about 6 years old when my folks got our first one waaaay back in the early 1990's (It may even have been that year) :realbig:
Apart from costs of consoles and the games, and the inherent inability to upgrade them like a PC, I really have never wanted to buy into a rival gaming system and indirectly support the whole "bad-backport-to-PC" fiasco that seems to be becoming more and more of a problem (Ghostbusters instantly springs to mind as a game made on PC/Mac for consoles, then shoddily ported back to PC again in a practically unplayable state).
In addition, it's also only now that consoles are coming even close to the graphical and, more importantly for games, processing capabilities of a PC.
Also "HD gaming" is really nothing new to PC users, afterall hasn't the PC had higher resolutions than TV or consoles since 1994? I bought my first 1600x1200 CRT monitor in 2000 and i seem to remember 2048x1600 monitors available then too (Though they cost a fortune)... 3D Apps were never really up to those resolutions because of GPU limitations, but at least we had the displays to allow for it and 2D was well up there in the "HD" realm with the right apps and OS's...
Another reason i dislike consoles, is that where there isnt an official port for their games, there's usually an emulator, anyone remember bleem! for the PS1? So i have been able to run almost any console game that i haven't found for PC on my PC, so what's the point in having a console?
Finally as consoles get more PC based like the XBOX its been made even easier to run their games on PC with minimum emulation, so i'm happy sticking with PC's i can upgrade and adapt for my use, afterall consoles can't offer me anything that PCs cannot do already, and most of the time, have done so for years
Btw, my PSN is orriekm for those who wants a teamplayer.
One that gives 50+ fps in any 'men of war' code. All maxed at 1920/1200.

About 4 months ago I have bought a new PC, this time a desktop. Nothing to fancy but still good for gaming.
MB: GA-MA770-UD3
CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) II X3 425 Processor (3 CPUs), ~2.7GHz
RAM: 4096MB
VGA: ATI Radeon HD 4730
There is no doubt
Consoles have lagged way behind the quality of image and control PC gamers expect
I've had console gamers slack jawed at CodMW2 or Crysis maxed on my machine.
then again my vid card cost more than their entire console. nyeeehh
The new generation of consoles will appear soon.
Yet they will still be fed into crappy low res screens. I type this on a 26 inch 1920 res monitor.
PC games will always be superior due to clarity of graphics and versatility of control
Consoles are not 'bad'
they are the lesser path
We all choose our own path. A choice of time available and commitment.
Pc gamers are in general more commited to their machine and what it can give them
Thus many retired or experienced automatically take up the PC as a choice.
The creed . better to have what i don't need than to need what i don't have. [yes...avp]

"Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped and battle hardened. He will fight savagely" - Eisenhower
Excellent. Eisenhower is a 'lost president'. A great man and his final speach on the military industrial combine is brilliant.

He was and will always be a rock of thinking well. The ETO post must have given him the ****s.
Fools like montgomery clawing for position . The brit Bomber fleet wanting to level everything . women and children included. see 'dresden'
Eisenhower was a good man.. In war thats a hard job. He did it well

It's funny you should say that!
My cousin has these 'see how long I can keep my mobile phone turned off' periods of time and sometimes she enjoyed it so much she didn't turn it on again!
