Do you find playing with fog of war on or off more enjoyable?

personally, I used to play with it off but after setting it to realistic I have found the whole game more enjoyable, although albeit harder! One map I was ordered to attack and control an intersection by a farm. I lost my Panzer II to a couple of hidden AT guns and proceded on foot with infantry, culminating in one of the toughest infantry battles I have faced yet in DCG

In Korea, My US platoon was decimated by surprise artillery fire after walking into an NK ambush... after a hard battle I was ;eft with just two men, and they captured the point just as the enemy second wave emerged from the undergrowth just 5 metres away!

personally i play with it off mostly and i still get most of my units blown up at times.

the main reason is i like to be able to see air raids coming since they're sneaky untill you hear them coming in low to attack.

I play with fog of war off, but I prefer to play with it on. But as Ulrek said Air attacks for him, and a few other things for me, I have been attempting to solve some of the issues that make the ai unrealistic or seem to have an unfair advantage so that a fog of war mission would be fun with out being a slaughter.

As it is , if the computer is attacking and you have won several missions, since there is no real current way to set up prepared defenses, you are at a disadvantage when faced with a defend mission.

Defend mission as defined by objectives near your start area.

I would not mind fog on a mission where you are on the attack, and really prefer it.

So once I have some solutions to this I will pass those on.

well i've started play with the fog on a bit now again but with the air attacks in the later war along with the lack of MP powers.

like the line of sight boosts of officers and snipers, it makes scout duty more costly than a massed inf charge at times heh.

one the enemy tank spams fog or not you've a problem.

i think both you and me Trog like to have our little supplie truck or half track and cry one it gets blow up.

for tank heavy players the tank spam isnt that big of a problem, nor is it for a good ambusher really.

just a pain if you cant see them coming to kill massive numbers of KV-1 tanks like in the early eastern front.

Play on Hard.
Play with fog on.
Use the fixes that come with the new version.

Now we are talking. :ninja:

What fixes in particular?

If I encounter air units i'll turn fog off, halt my progress and deal with the threat before turning it back on.

As a question: Has anyone managed to shoot down a plane using a tank's AA Machinegun? So far I've only managed it with main-calibre HE rounds and concentrated rifle fire?
