View Full Version : FOW2, Faces of War a very broad game title for other conflic
Well if the developers won't incorporate most of what we wish and suggested, they could make another FOW2 and put everything we wish, like the tanks, units, nationality, scenarios/campaigns, we would like. I wish that more SP mission scnearios-details would be made to the German campaign. From early WW2 to the multiple fronts Germany was fighting in. German Elite and Fallschirmjager SP missions would be nice.
It would be also super if the developers made modding and the editor much easier that even a beginner like myself could easily follow and use and provide tutorials too.
But since the title "Faces of War" is quite broad in its topic and not just related to WW2, hell it would be great if there would be the following; Faces of War: 1. Korean War, 2. French Indo-China, 3. Vietnam, 4. Arab-Israeli Wars (another great desert campaign scenario), 5. African Wars/ Rhodesia, etc. 6. South American Conflicts. 7. Russian/Afghan Invasion, 8. Desert Storm 1, 9. Balkan Wars, 10. Desert Storm 2. 11. Global Anti-Terror War, and a lot of other smaller conflicts that could be an add-on though.
The current FOW game engine and graphics is okay though and I believe it could carry the possibilities of the scenario as another stand-alone game in itself.
What do you think guys? I know you have lots of ideas. I hope the game developers would be reading several of our posts including this one. :realbig:
Like I said, the game title "Faces of War" covers a broad topic. I hope the developers get a hint or an inspiration.

Many good ideas there, and i also hope they will fix the editor to easier usage, correct me if i'm wrong, but i think they once said that we will be given an official tutorial to the editor which includes the "true power" of the editor. And i hope they will explain the using of scripting in the editor, cause the only thing i know how to do is the "waypoint". I don't even get it how to make a flagpoint. :/
But i disagree at one of your points, that is that FoW should mix in other wars and conflicts. Well, maybe it's just me, but i prefer it as a ww2 game. :woah:
I totally agreed for Mushroomcar :grandpa:
The addon should really include a editor and a manual how to use it well because
Until now i still can't fully understand scripting (only knew 2/10 )... :(
Well i agree with Shroom...
FoW should be kept WW2 but thats why there are mods... we can have Vietnam FoW, Desert Storm FoW.... etc by modding it ;)
also they should fix the editor and make it simple and make it how it was supposed to be and include tutorials :grandpa:
Also make like a tool for modeling just for FoW and make it easier for making new stuff like tanks, guns... do something like milkshape but for fow and simpler to use.. and more mod tools :baseball: :rtfm: just make some mod tools with everything in like some sort of package and everything simple and easy to use... :shady: ;) :!: :brickwall:
True guys. But time will come in the future as game development evolves when there will be a lot of WW2 - related rts and strategy games that the competition will be very stiff with other budding and big game developing companies out there - and I think that before it comes to that, it would be a good franchise for Bestway to "pioneer", to be the first game company to cover various world conflicts in a series. FOW(retaining the title) extending it to cover various conflicts. Like I said the game title in itself is already so much flexible "Faces of War". Good thing that it wasn't "Faces of World War 2".
Just an Example: A game title "Faces of War: Korea" could be a standalone or add-on. Since most of the weapons in WW2 would still be in used. Except German armour. But it would be a nice game to develop to be able to fight the North Koreans and Chinese (somewhat an interesting thought to fight them especially relating to both nations regarding current worldwide events). In Korea, the UN was involve then, US, UK, Dutch, etc against the NKs and PRCs with their JS3 and other post WW2 arms and armour. The US, UK, etc side would have the Patton Tanks, rifle grenades, etc,. Aside from the environment, maps, and new models added, pretty much of the weapons are there for a FOW: Korean War game. An add-on could be added to cover the Insurgency in British Aden during those years and also the conflict in Borneo along with the Dutch. This time jungle warfare.
It would be exciting and a whole new fresh approach to strategy gaming as FOW evolves to cover various world conflicts. Bestway, with the FOW franchise could do so many things. Man, if I was a Billionaire and I bought Bestway, I would commissioned them to do so. :realbig: to develop FOW series. From the succeeding conflicts post WW2 - the Korean War, to Gulf War 2. For me I think FOWs current engine could handle the Korean War and late 50's to early 60's conflict.
But with Vietnam, Arab-Israeli wars to modern conflicts, it would be very different since most of FOW's focus is ground warfare. But then with the advent of the Helicopter in ground support role it would be a different approach for a FOW series. Since the Helicopter should be controlled by the player along with tanks and men. By then it would be great to combine some RPG elements like, having a roster to select your men and a veteran system. Where the men get to be experts and veterans throughout the whole campaign. I am sentimental with my squads mind you. But I think it would still be best to keep the squads micro in management. Leave the "more" men and BIG multiple squad to the modders to develop and make their own. Make the default squad management up to 5 to 15 at the extreme.
But if a large scale conflict could be too much for the game developers, why not this idea? A FOW: Special Operations or FOW: Special Forces standalone game, with light armor support. It could cover various covert-ops around the world or make up a scenario involving single player campaigns for the SAS, SEALS, DELTA FORCE, RANGERS, GSG9, FFL, KSK "Kommando Spezialkräfte", and the list goes on. Say maybe a Blackhawk Down Scenario or Baghdad Street Fight scenario.
Imagine all the Special Forces and weapons these and other special forces have! Fighting a night battle using thermal or night vision imagine that. The exciting thing about this would be the amount of weapons for selection for your selected squad.
Well there are other RTS strategy squad-based games out there but Bestway could polish it and give the best of the best.
Well someone could make a mod out of the Korean War and other conflicts, but I think there are more PC Gamers (non-modders like me) than expert modders like most of you guys here in forums. So a majority would prefer to buy since modding to non-modders really takes some time and most of them don't have the patience to do so...
To Bestway and to you FOW developers, best of wishes to you for such a great game!
