Hello

In my current German campain I bought a Tiger II with porsche turret. But I notished there is an option for
a Tiger II with a diffirent turret.
Which is the best to use?
Is there any difference in gun performance or in protection :?
Because the porsche seems to have more sloped turret.

I don't know about armor things but the Porsche turret one has a bug, it can be easily penetrated frontally by like a T-34, so I'd buy a one equipped with the Henschel turret.

//that's in vanilla, haven't tried it in DCG

DCG use the same value as in MOW.

You're Sherlock Holmes, aren't ya?

DCG use the same value as in MOW.
The KT with the porsche turret is not better then a tiger,the hoter one is the MP beast you know.

Of the 489 Tiger IIs built, about 50 had the Porsche turret. The boxy one is the Henschel turret which was the main production model.

I notished that for few months of '44 the porsche Tigers are available in campain. They were pre-production models or just failed designs that abandoned?

Another off topic question: There is a way to stop planes? My anti-aircraft machine guns in the tanks are unable to shoot them and also the 20mm AA can't stop them either. I haven't tried the German 37mm AA vehicle though and the soviet 37mm couldn't track the plane fast enough to shoot it.
Also the 88mm flack is capable of AA use or is only in name?

Best defense against aircraft is sWS_Flak37, Crusader AA, the towed 20mm FlaK, M16 halftrack, and the Russian 37mm AA-gun. The AAMG on tanks are useless, since they can´t be traversed high enough. 2nd best defense is to order the infantry to shot at the planes.

The 88mm and the UK Vickers 94mm is quite useless against planes since their rate of fire is way to low to actually have a chance to hit them (in real life the 88 for example, could fire 20-25 rounds per minute and it relied on pre-set HE shells to destroy incoming planes, not by direct hits). In our later DCG versions we have also added changes to the AI, so that tanks and anti-tank guns don´t fire at all at incoming planes, since it, in my view, is way to annoying to have your tanks trying to fire at a plane instead of firing at incoming enemy tanks.

Thank you for the information :D
If you can do that it will be really good. I lost the account how many of my tanks were destroyed when they had loaded HE rounds instead of AP.

Oh by the way great mod!! I really enjoy playing it every day. Keep the good work.

I noticed this KT blows up quite fast when hit but I'm using it just for support role.

I really like the engine sound of the porsche turret KT.. There's that whirring sound that's very different from other tanks.. the other Kt has the same engine sound as a regular tiger. And the skin is different I think.

Now how would I go about switching engine sound from one tank to another. Give Porsche turret KT sounds to the other KT?

Anyone?

game/set/interaction_entity/tank.inc

{"pz6b tank"
{on "add_movement_sound" overload
{link_sound "move" "vehicle/tracks/jugdpanther" }
{link_sound "engine" "vehicle/engine/jagdtiger" }
{link_sound "engine_end" "vehicle/engine/jagdtiger_end" }
{link_sound "rotate_turret" "vehicle/turret/heavy2" }

You should know what to do from here.

Ah, thank you! I love modding my own stuff. I needed a different sound, since Regular tiger engine sounds has been in many a battle since 43 so I figured both KT's need same engine sounds.

Now for another question that's bugging me perhaps you know this one.. When opening inventory how come some rifles/guns look a little zoomed out?

So normally a rifle, say, fills entire 4 boxes in the inventory but some guns appear like they have a smaller inventory icon, sort of zoomed out, not filling out their space like other guns..

Any ideas? that happens for me with svt40 for example..

This is a problem with the .mdl file (Extender Preview) not being properly configured. However, that is something more of a modeler's expertise, not really in my neighborhood. An example of code for the display 'icon' of a weapon or item is like this:

{Extender "preview"
{"Stuff"
{camera
{origin -9.06475 -5.63155 20.4011}
{lookat 3.71264 1.29369 -3.13184}
{fov 45}
{horizon -102.423}
}
{lights

{type directional}
{direction -0.079711 0.286525 -0.401932}
}
{"1"

}
}
}
{"Stuff_primary"

Ok, fixed it, Thank you.

I just got the LoranKorn rar and what a gem that is, few new things like gun models. there's a completely different mg42 model, looks more like it's belt fed that is just bad ass. The original has a drum mag.

So I tried to have both of them to equip some squads with drum wth 100 rounds and make smaller 42 belt fed and loader team only but with 250rounds.

How would I do that?? Seems fairly easy I thought but it keeps giving me error box and crashes the game..

I Just labeled the Loran model as mg42_belt, put it in entity folder and made a file for stuff/mg that points to mg42_belt folder and made descr entries.. but no go..

If you don't mind pointing me in the right direction I'd appreciate that.. Thanks!

Ah, tricky, having two mg42 models in there but I found what I did wrong. def files had to be different.

And now there's two variants of the mg. Loving it.
FG models are different too, one has a bipod and other ZF4 scope so I tricked out the scoped one to work ina semi fire mode and have the sniper reticule.
