MP Map "Selsovet"
1 vs 1 Combat Mode
Intended to be used with "infantry only" option.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This map should work fine with any other mods you might have. In fact i advise you to try my "blood mod" ( you can find more info and download it here --> http://www.digitalmindsoft.eu/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2453 ) and install one of the "realism" mods you can find on this forum. I have personally changed all the small arms fire rates and ranges, and it works fine since there is plenty of cover on this map.

Please let me know if you find any bugs. You are welcome to post your suggestions as well.

You are welcome to use this map for your mod, mission and such, as long as you keep my name in "credits".

Thank you for the positive replies guys!

There is a new screenshot in the original/first post. A "minimap" showing maps layout.

The whole area in the middle - Selsovet ( Local Administration ), will be the most protected, with plenty of cover and probably some kind of sniper location to make it a center of action. Both player starting locations have a slightly higher ground, hopefully providing a better defence. Church with a cemetery and "fishing spot"/dock on the opposite side, will have some good cover as well.

Very nice, the game needs more infantry only maps.
I hope you'll make more! :D

Don't forget the chicken, no chicken no infantry only map.

Since it's inf only I recommend those newer Russian wooden fences, as they can be destroyed by light infantry fire as well. I see that you used some of them, however you should use them as a feature, maybe with some lower hardcover on one side. Destruction is always cool if there remains cover.

Check edifices assignation too, if you didn't do so yet.

I am not sure about the chicken... Is it something i can add using mission editor, like a normal "actor"?

"edifices assignation"? What is that?

Chicken should be placed in the .mi file and assigned a neutral player, i.e. player 3.

In the map editor you have edifices on the bottom right menue, it allows you to set transparency groups for entering buildings. (removing roofs)

I will add chickens, that sounds fun!
Transparent roofs are on my to-do list as well, i just did not know how its called in the editor.

So far i have only finished 2 more houses, and that took me like 3-4 hours, he he. I am dead slow...

New screenshots in the main post.

Edit:

Can anyone suggest an optimal object count on the map? I have reached 2300, an i expect it to be around 5000 on thr finished map... It is the same amount as on most of the original missions, but due to small map size, i suspect it could cause some lag. I have a somewhat powerful pc, so MoW runs smooth on most/all maps for me...
Please advise on this issue, i am sure i can bring the object count down by removing the amount of vegetation if needed.

Edit 2:

Made some good progress.
3 new screenshots in the first post.

80% done. New screenshots in the first post.

The map itself is mostly finished, i will need to adjust the small thing, check for "bugs" and such...
I haven't even started on mp mission file yet, but I imagine it should not take long time. I am a bit worried about the mini-map, as half of the "mini-map guide" i found, was missing.

I can guide you through the minimap, the tutorial on these forums is a bit too complicated, so I just winged it, and with a little help from Orrie, got it working in a jiffy.

1. just go up and look down at the map, you don't have to make sure you're facing north, but it'd be better.

2. save the screenshot and open it up in Paint.NET (Free program that's wonderful!)

3. save it as a .DDS as "Minimap.DDS" in your map folder directory (Where your map/missions are.) BUT! It has to be even dimensions, like 512x512, or 256x1024, etc.

4. do this for a background, and loading picture and it'll be a done map! :hurray:

now get workin, me and my bro are looking for a map like this! :whip:

Thank you Birdy!
Minimap is done.

I will need some more time to test and such. But it looks pretty much finished.

Edit:

IT IS DONE! DOWNLOAD FROM THE ORIGINAL POST.

Woot!

MoW always needed maps like this. :booyah:

But just to get more people into it, make it more of a success, you should edit it and make it bigger around the outskirts for more room for tanks.

I like this map man, keep it up!
