View Full Version : 3DS MAX 9 Error When Exporting to MDL?
Ok well ive just linked all my volumes and clicked export to MDL and i get this error message:
Does anyone here know what/why I got this error message? It wont let me export my model, only the PLY file is a full file (8kbs) whereas the mdl and mtl files are both 0kbs and empty.
Helpfull Error isnt it. :huh:
Sadly it gives me nothing to go on.
Only advice is to go though the steps in the wiki tuturials one by one and see what it is. :(
I had this a couple times when I left an eclipse material with a non-dds texture on it during the export. I'd often load up my test materials as jpgs or tgas.
Might be worth a look to double check.
Im sorry Mrdorf what do you mean? are my textures in the wrong format?
If you set up an eclipse material in max, but assign it a texture file that is not in .dds format, the export will crash like what you're seeing.
That may not be your exact issue, as there's a lot of reasons the export could crash, but that one got me a few times before I tracked it down.
If all the textures you're using in your eclipse materials are in .dds format, then you'll be ok.
Yey!, mr dorf you where right, it was becasue my texture was in PNG format, i changed it to DDS and its exported fine.
Thanks alot mate, now just need to alter the attributes and get this baby working in game.
I get an export problem in Max8. Simple says module export error. All I do is load up Max, load up one of the sample models (the one of the MG, german machine gun). Then I run export as mdl. The error pops up every time.
