Game lags

My friends and i experience lag when we play.
First i thought it was the large map, but after we scaled it down considerbly its still lagging.

Have now added ports to my router to remove that obstacle.
Anything else we can try?

Not being descriptive here. Is it ping/network based lag? Or framerate being slow/stuttery lag? Or both? Also have you tried hosting it locally(if not LAN based) or off the UK Gamespy servers?

Also running Firewall or Internet Security programs like Kaspersky Internet Security do lag the game no matter what permissions you set to it(I know, I've tried). You'll have to shut them off if you have them on.

when i try the map locally it seems to be less laggy.

anyway for me to check the FPS somehow? and when playing online, how can i check my ping?

It could just be the game being played in multiplayer then. People have noted that the gamespy UK servers do lag at times.

As for framerate, you can download a demo of fraps(google it) and set it's options to overlay your current FPS while playing.
