View Full Version : British PIATS
didnt have tracers and were invisible when fired, plus it had an arch trajectory not straight line....
least make it invisible ( aka round and where it was fired from)
thx

were british "piat's" not absolutely useless against anything with armour more than 20-30mm thick, which would render them pretty useless after 5minutes playing when the heavier tanks start appearing?
i have to say that i would like to see the brits have the piat as they did in real life but i think it would cause some new balance issues!!
i belive they were pritty effective
102mm at 30 deg aand thats effective
plus you should be able to fire it over buildings and stuff
From everything that I have read, you are right madgelo, it did have an arched trajectory. Although this probably helped it a little as there was a good chance of it landing on top of the tank rather then a frontal hit.... The armor usually being alot lighter on top.
Just a snipit from wiki...
It was comparatively quiet and smokeless, with no backblast. This meant that, unlike the American bazooka or German Panzerfaust and Panzerschreck, it could be fired from an enclosed space, and would not give away its position as soon as the weapon was fired.
ye, least they should rename what we have now to bazooka or give us real piat:)
I hear ya mate, I think this game is improving with every patch, so I dont think something this simple will take long to correct. The fixes that they have made so far are sweet.

the main reason the piat was crap was that it had very little range, and to fire over buildings would take a pretty special shot unless the soldier firing it had x-ray glasses to see through the building

How are the other launchers at the moment (I haven't seen any of them)? Are they still painfully slow and go off course crazily like FoW? Or do they have a more realistic high velocity flat"ish" trajectory?
They move more realistically. No swirling around, they have an arc to drop to the ground the further they fly etc.

you mean like now when 1 unit see something, and allow every othr friendly unit on map to see
PIATs were spring loaded, so basically it was a big slingshot slinging HEAT grenades. So, they should remove tracer smoke (or add the mortar's "swooshing" effect) and make it more curved. 2 mins work in set files. :realbig:
No, the spring was used to launch the projectile and also ignited a small rocket in the projectile itself. So it does have a smoke trail and does not rely completely on the spring action to propel the nade.... :P Kinda like a hybrid 'zooka xD
Stop sayin that stuff needs to be removed from the game just for the balancing off it, It was no balancing in the war! Go back to Company of Heroes if you want that! I heard that the new "Expansion" has self controll (in one sp mission) So dont try to make this game like all of the rest ww2 games! We dont need another medal of honor!

you make no sence
1st you say that we dont need this game to be realistic and then you tell me that we dont need another medal of honor?...doh :pang:
