View Full Version : Will there be a MoW server in Australia?
Howdy all!
I am very interested to know if there will be a server somewhere on this side of the world? If not in Australia maybe somewhere in Asia Pacific? The game is fantastic and myself and several mates play it online but theres a few issues. Since the servers are based in the UK or US? (not sure which) we have high pings when we enter game rooms.
The game plays fine and when loading its never waiting on us in the load screen but all of us are sick of getting kicked out of game rooms because our ping is too high! Its fine at night when the rest of the people online are from this side of the earth and all the pings are 300+ but during the day its pointless even trying to play coz no one will let us join a game!
Will there be a server closer to home? Cheers!
Yeah i often get kicked because my 400ms ping will lag the game apparently.... even though my PC loads the map faster then most players and most lag in game is caused by those players with bad PCs i noticed we always "waiting for" the slowest pc whenever there is some action or a explosion.
There is a option to host locally, not through the gamespy servers so either you or your mates could host a game, i sometimes host games on FoW, will probably do the same on MoW.

I´ve played against/with many high pinging players and so far, the ones who has given me most trouble, is the ones with low pings and low performance PC´s. I don´t know how many times I have been sent personal messages from other players in the game room asking me to kick some player with a high ping. When I last played against Mishkin, we had a terrific 4vs4 game with no noticeable lag on my side at least (I was the host).
Usually the ones who make the game lag, is the ones who is sending PM´s about kicking some high ping player. I don´t kick people due to high ping, but I do use the black list on people who without no reason, decides to drop out of the game due to being in the losing team etc. Mishkin ain´t one of these players, even after all his team members dropped out since they were on the losing team, Mishkin still fought on against four players. All honors to such players! :toast:

If we are able to make our own "Server Zones" as we could in FoW, this wont be a really issue.
Then only 1 guy could set up a local server "down there" and you all be happy, right?

High ping doesn't seem to be much of a problem. When lagg is caused, it seems to be mostly due to low performance PCs. To be honest I kick people that cause such lagg, because otherwise the game doesn't run smoothly. I don't like doing it, since the player in question may be very nice, but I do it in a polite manner at least saying: "Sorry, but I have to kick you, because you simply cause too much lagg."
To answer the topic's question: You could always host a local server. And if you are not able to do that, I could help you out with opening ports if that's the issue.

Oh gawd I really hate it when people start lagging.
Get a decent PC/Bandwidth before going on a epic quest to defeat the enemy. :?
Cheers all, good to see its not just me thats getting frustrated with it happening. I think what you have all said is pretty spot on, its not the ping time that causes the lag but those with PCs that cant take the game load. Well for now, theres the local server option that works quite well for a game with just the 'locals'. We have been using it quite a bit, but when we want a bigger game ie. 4v4 or more we use the gamespy servers still. It lets everyone join from around the world and I guess if they dont like our high pings they dont hafta join.
LOL, its funny that you guys have noticed that its the ones that complain, are the oones that cause the lags... we have noticed the same!
I hope so dood! I have been gettin the same thing. People wont even let me join thier game because my ping is 300-400 but when I have created my own and other have joined it I have never seen any lag!
I hope internode in Aust get one, they serve loads of games now so it would be perfect! :punkl:
