I've taken a break from the modding a little, to make what I really thought was needed in from the very beginning when I started modding. A free and public upload area for Faces of War and Men of War modders/mappers.
I've bought a domain called orriekm.net and with some help from my friend HTML and PHP worked out some fine results in what I would call a File Downloading area.
I'm currently trying to add the Upload part, so till now there is only stuff that I've uploaded through a FTP Client.
If you visit the site, you'll see all downloads are categorized and most of them have descriptions etc.
This is all a script that makes it categorized, and nothing I have to do myself. (Thanks to a guy called mortz for that :realbig: ).
It wont take long till everyone can upload their stuff.
The thing is that I wont make it able to make your own categories. The files uploaded will be categorized under a public folder. And I'll personally move them to the rightful folder when I notice the uploads and/or someone PM me.
If you want a private space, just ask I'll make a sub-url with your name that I add a Login screen that you have to pass through. Then you'll be redirected to the upload screen that you can upload your own stuff.
This is all made pretty simple, since I'm not an experienced HTML/PHP coder.
I hope many of you will enjoy this site, and I hope the most that it will be used!
The speed of the server is awesome, and by all that I've heard from has gotten nearly maximum download speed. (As their bandwidth allows).
If you want a private space, just PM me or post in this thread.
There, now uploading completely works!
I wrote up some rules that I really hope uploaders follow:
When uploading a file, please add your nickname in the file name so I know who uploaded the file. Example: Orrie - test.rar
Supported filetypes: .RAR, .ZIP, .7z and .EXE (But please upload in .RAR or .7z)
Files will be checked for content and deleted if content is unrelated to FoW or MoW
If someone breaks the content rule 3 times, the person will get IP-Banned :)
I'm not really sure why all the categories are not sorted, but it will be fixed in the next days.
Happy Uploading!
thank you, look nice.wath is Extra Uniti mod?do you have a description?
Its an addon pack that gots lots of new vehicles for multiplayer including ferdinand and some that i dont remember, but has good infantry and more weapons for them like Pzb39 etc. was created by tha dalai lamas clan afaik.
I think I'm gonna add the link to the DMS Wiki article for the specific Modification in the descriptions.
Then it will be easier to find information on who made it and when etc.

Nice initiative, Orrie! You should have so mods are in one category, and content packs (like maps, vehicles & small arms) are in another, to make it easier for people to navigate, but I'm sure you have thought of that already. Edit: I saw you have even done that already now that I clicked on the link.
I will personally upload Commanders of War for Faces of War once I get home at least, and I can help out with uploading other custom content aswell since I have a good upload speed.

I've just made two mods (Which in reality is just one),
But thanks Panzer Elite! :D
Everything is BALEETED...
So bascially, some retard brute forced my FTP password and BALEETED it all. Congrats to him.
Either he is some random dude who wants to mess around, or a retard I know, which basically makes me start hating him as I didn't before.
His loss.
Since I'm a smart guy and all, I had 100% fresh backups (Tho, not the uploaded files), so basically everything is back as it was.
I don't really care that he did it, since I'm not the one it hurts, its the whole community.
So basically, he just did something to the whole Men of War Community.
I'll try to get things back up, but I can't promise that everything will be uploaded again, since I really don't have it all locally.
Tho, a fresh start is always good, but I'll try to get things back as it was.
I also noticed that a link of my site was posted on a Arabian Hacking Group site  which is pretty weird.

Heh, actually, I'm not surprised.
The same happened as randomly to an anti-Securom protest site sometimes ago(site being "Reclaim your games", a group of people that were badly burnt by how a badly coded version of Securom implemented in the Sims 2 borked many of their legit copies of the game and so on, and thus created the website to protest against Electronic Arts), The site was hacked overnight, without any reason whatsoever except the frontpage being replaced by something in arab and a blurb saying this site was hacked by (hacker's nickname).
It happen again this night.
Tho, the only thing htey can do is Brute Force the FTP password, they can't change it.
Then they need to bruteforce the account at the Webhoster.
Mine is back up tho, again....
EDIT:
Okey, for the future, I will not host any more Faces of War modifications.
They used space, and few where actually downloading them.
(Each had around 40 D/L's after 4 months.)
Only content addons and Maps.
Now, only Men of War Modifications will be prioritized.
I'm sorry if this is annoying for those with Faces of War, thus I encourage those players to buy Men of War, MUCH BETTER! ;)

Very nice of you to host this site, Orrie... to bad some little bastards try to ruin it (hackers :baseball: ).
I've bookmarked the site, and will check it regularily (and perhaps upload stuff there aswell)
IMHO what about teamup with these guys (or do it similar) :
Spring RTS community site, server status and more http://www.springinfo.info/
i hope it serves as very good example how things should be
btw. opensource RTS Spring is great game : http://spring.clan-sy.com/
especially take look on theirs lobby
a. opensource lobby (in fact two one Windows and one CrossPlatform)
a1. lobby got autoupdate
a2. lobby got own variant of IRC
a3. lobby got friends
a4. lobby got auto/manual download of maps/mods/scripts/visual widgets and w/e else (ftp/http/bittorrent supported)
a5. lobby lists games
a6. lobby allows setup games in every possible way you imagine
a7. full support for any type of mods (pluginable, skinable, modular)
etc
now try compare this with GameSpy or ingame lobbies and You need ask question:
How come opensource product outclass them (as robust yet simple and easy to use solution) ?
lot of people try downplay that the lobby runs prior game and then minimize (on backgroun) ...
but actually it have TONs of advantages over ingame lobby
(no limits by GUI design/pre-defined interface/limitations because developers forgot features etc)
anyway keep up good work
p.s. Spring and lobby supports also 7-zip opensource archive format ... it would be nice if MoW too
