Hi,
Just wanted to say that I've completed all missions under the USA. I'm happy with myself but I had EASY ticked when doing it. That was tough enough for this old man. :grandpa:
On to the UK next, I guess...
I also want to add that the body parts are not needed in a game. A little blood is fine but body parts scattered all about are a bit too much, IMHO. I know war is hell but this is only a game.
Have fun!

Well, my first adventure was successful with the exception of that tall search light. How do I put that out???
The machine gun won't point high enough, my pistol won't either. A submachine gun won't do it and I can't find any dynamite. What's the secret to this one?
Thanks,

Tall searchlight? Which mission?
IRT PrivateDwelling
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s108/MadCatOmni/Soldiers%20emoticons/soldier_lol.gif The lighthouse.
IRT thegrindre
Mortar or dynamite, your choice http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s108/MadCatOmni/Soldiers%20emoticons/soldier_biggrin.gif I believe the dynamite should be in a munitions stockpile near that small red brick building behind the fortifications, between it and the fenceline. Or it's over by one of the mortars in one of those immovable, medium sized, flat boxes containing extra ammo for the mortar. I forgot exactly where http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s108/MadCatOmni/Soldiers%20emoticons/soldier_shy.gif but it's there somewhere. And if I remember correctly you'll also need it for another objective in the mission as well.

Ah, the good old lighthouse. The dynamite is stored in places where, unfortunately, it is subject to the crates being destroyed during an attack. What I've done in the past is capture one of the costal guns and used it to destroy the lighthouse and the other costal gun/barge, if I wanted to play a quick mission. Saves swimming or using the dingy to travel back to the small island.
Course, you need to save one stick of dynamite to destroy the remaining coastal gun.

Got it! Thanks, guys. I captured a big gun and used it as PrivateDwelling did and took out the light house and the other big gun and, that barge/raft thingy, too. Thought I'd take out all the bunkers while I was at it, also. LOL Succeeded in killing everybody and am into the next mission.
Sheesh, I gotta find a contact, huh? I hope it's a game trigger when I get close 'cuz I got no clue how to do that.
This game is pretty cool! :wow:
:D
I'm glad you like it. There is a lot of fun stealing enemy equipments and use them against your opponents.
In your next mission if you explore the map in all its parts you will meet a very powerfull german weapons. And if you will be able to capture it..... poor germans
Course, you need to save one stick of dynamite to destroy the remaining coastal gun.
No, you don't have to ;) I always used the other gun to take out the another and then left one shell on the ground, threw an AT nade on it and big-bada-boom up goes the second coastal gun too :hurray:

100% true. FoW has better gfx etc, but not that many interesting SP missions since most of them only had one solution to them... The SP Missions were a big let down in FoW, and I surely missed the feature from SHOWW2 where you kept the same force (ie. the surviving ones) from the mission before etc. It was sure fun to have access to captured enemy equipment and made the missions always seem more or less, unique each time you played thru them, unlike the FoW SP missions.

I noticed that is too difficult to capture an enemy vehicle in Faces of War because every time I try to damage and repair a vehicle it blow up. Only in few cases I was able to avoid this. Have you noticed the same thing?

Aim for the turret. That makes the crew abandon their vehicle and you can board it and repair the turret in no time :)

Yeah, its easy to capture a enemy vehicle that way, but it is a very stupid behavior, especially when the same thing happens to your own tanks... Yet another "smart" AI thing... not...

I noticed this too but, make sure you have enough room in your pack to carry your weapon and supplies to the next level. The number of times I played that mission and watched with incredulity whilt the timer counted down and the "mission failed" message came up! :brickwall: I ended up asking how to complete it in the forum. The solution is easy once you know how but how someone came across it initially is beyond me - it's just not obvious at all.
This is a fast-moving mission and I've always considered it the hardest campaign mission.
If/when you get totally frustrated with it and need a solution let us know - someone will provide the answer. :?

OK, I solved it by walking one man, isle to isle then, saving and reloading. NOT FUN! I won't play this ever again.
How about the next one? How in the heck do you use the axe??? I can't get the axe to chop any tree. All I can do is throw it like a weapon. I don't understand the purpose for the axe
This is a hard one. It takes me almost 15 minutes to block the road! How can I ambush with only 3 men??? I don't have any time left!!! :brickwall:
I need some pointers, please. :realbig:

Well, you've sussed out the bit I couldn't to start with! The ambush bit isn't easy but there's a number of ways to do it. No doubt others will give you their solution. One method I had was to carry over some anti-personnel mines from the previous mission and place on the road top right of map where the sentry box is. Then a few more on the track from there to the village. With a bit of luck these damage the motorcycles and Hanomag that are leading the convoy. The truck is slowed down as it can't negotiate the debris/vehicles on the road/track. I'm pretty sure I'd also carried over a sniper rifle on one of the guys. Use this to shoot the truck windscreen and the driver exits.
Of course, all these chaps and the accompanying Panther crew aren't best pleased and want to have cross words with you. Generally, I've had my guys placed near the rocks/pond on the left of the map ready to take on the retaliatory strike. One is armed with an SMG and bazooka (carry over from previous mission), one with SMG and one with MG. With a bit of luck all 3 survive, but not always, so save when placing mines and save new version just before timer runs out).
I'm sure others have got better solutions.

This would've been easily solved by using the helpful dog that is in one of the huts. Just kill the Germans in the area, without damaging the dog and it will show you the safe way over the marshlands :)
Axe is throwable. There's no other use for it unless scripted.
If you run out of time, restart and think again what you should've done. I remember using AT nades to kill the tank in the convoy (Panther?) and to stop the convoy I just shot at the lead truck in it. Then the crew jumped out and my MG gunner was able to mow them down.

Thanks for the other help, guys although, I don't like time limits, I may not complete this one. If it takes me almost 15 minutes to block the road, I'm not sure I'll be able to beat it.

Keep at it :whip: Course you'll do it in the time. Ignore the village, get your guys up to the top road, chastising those cheeky enough to interfere with your hike, take out the sentries and the scout car crew, sort out the rock formation and motorcycle crews, prepare your mines, position your people and tally ho!
Eventually it'll work :ouch:

Just to show you how insane I am I once managed to drive a captured German AA vehicle through the swamp by getting screenshots, setting the route on the subsequent JPEGS and driving carefully. Unfortunately, vehicles don't carry over on the mission so it was a waste of time anyway  :insane:

10-10-2008, 15:41
Yeah, I did that, too. Loaded the whole bunch into one of those half tracks then drove to the escape zone. I didn't get it either and lost all my supplies to boot.
OK, got a problem. I skipped that other one because of the time limit thing and jumped into the next one. Found the matches and the kenneling but can't get the fire to catch. What's that secret? Please don't tell me I got to take out the supply dump with 3 men for some fuel. LOL 8O
Thanks,
Which one is that? Is it the one in the dark where you have to light a beacon on 3 or 4 places on a field?
If so you have to drop some wood on each point, tip some fuel on each pile of wood and then use the matches to light it. I haven't played that one for a while but I have a feeling you do that to end the mission so yep, it sounds like you have to take out the enemy first. Well you wouldn't want it to be easy would you?
Hint: If you hold down the Tab key anything useful (dropped weapons, fuel drums, repair kits etc) will be highlighted in red so that will help you locate the fuel.
Hint2 (and a bit of a spoiler so don't read this if you don't want help yet) .................................................. ......................................... .................................................. .................................................. . I think you have some mines available so what I do is plant them in a safe area then shoot at the tank (there is a tank I think?) to attract its attention and get it to drive over a mine. May take a few tries and you have to keep relocating so it doesn't get a fix on you. That's one way of doing it anyway.

As long as one of your soldiers is carrying the box it also travels with you into the next mission when it allows. I love cramming one of those full of goodies I might find useful later on. In the Odette mission you need to leave at least one soldier behind holding the box so it comes into the following mission though.
About lighting the fires for the Rescue mission, save the game before you try lighting the fires off. It's no fun to light your own guy on fire because of an uncontrollable programming glitch and then find out you hadn't saved yet.

This Dilust guy is so modest not mentioning his own works look for mods called Depot,Recupero.eng and Commandos campaign all avaiable here all of which are allied missions and his productions.
There are a lot of russian mods about one quite amusing called Death where you begin with no weapons about a minute into the game some germans take a disliking to some chickens and a cow and start shooting them but this allows you to use melee attack to acquire weapons.
In the normal game the russian missions are all good Prishib station happens to be one of my favourites.

I need the directory structure and where to put it for SHoWW2.
I have it unzipped and am waiting to drop it in the proper folder but I don't know were it goes.
Thanks,
In the folder where you have installed the game, you must make a folder mods, and in this folder you must place all the mods folders.
For example:
Soldiers/mods/SASOH
Start game...go to mods section, select SASOH, press Apply ...and ready. :)

I just want to play and try out the tactics and strategies I have planned for the allied player. :D
Thanks,
Most of those I mentioned are bug free, or near enough it doesn't affect gameplay. If you can't find them let me know and I'll upload them for you.
Storm over Europe Real Warfare Mod(SoE RWM) 1.8 is a great SP mod. It is a full game modification for range and accuracy as well as containing new bonus mission replacements. I will warn you there is one bonus mission in this mod that is very specific in how you must complete it and that is Bunker Hill. If you close too early on the enemy forces at the base of the hill it will ghost out on you. The enemy soldiers will be able to hit you but you will no longer be able to hit any of them. It's an intentional bug that Instinct laid on it but it can easily be worked around by not going in that direction right off and following the objectives as laid out at first. This mission may or may not inform you that you have accomplished it depending on order in which you accomplished some of the objectives. But if no enemies are on the map you've won.
Another mission titled Assault is a bit tricky too. You may not always trigger it to read mission accomplished either and you will have removed all enemies. There is a specific way to accomplish this mission in its entirety as well but I've long since forgotten exactly how I did it  . Don't bother trying to capture the enemy vehicles unless you like trying over and over again, the modder made it near impossible in that mission to do so. It can be done but it's a real pain and requires lots and lots of reloads of saves.
SoE RWM also has two extra bonus missions, Huertgen and Iron Fist, which are very large maps with lots of entities in them, and I do mean large and lots. These will run slowly on computers with less RAM available but run fairly decently on less cramped comps. You can adjust the game setting options to help with this if it becomes an issue too. The extra bonus missions can only be use one at a time in conjunction with their mother mod SoE RWM 1.8 in the Mods menu but that's not a problem. I absolutely love this entire mod set. I still play SoE Asian Expansion(AE) 1.3 as well.
