View Full Version : Can't start under Vista
Hi!
I just installed Vista and the Beta but it won't start under Vista.
Everytime the game shows the message:
"Can't start the application, because d3dx9_30.ddl is missing"
The question is:
Is it safe to install dx9 under vista?

Google for d3dx9_30.ddl and download it to your windows/system32 folder ...
No...vista support only dx10.

download and install DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&DisplayLang=en).

Listen tho his advice, it will work.
Vista has only DirectX10 Components at first start, so you need to install DirectX9 components too.
Then you'll get all the files you need :)
Faces of War had Dx9 installer with the game (If I'm not mistaken), and therefore you wouldn't get the bug.
Vista use a combination of DirectX 10 and DirectX 9.0L (a version of Dx9 that works in a parallel way and is not compatible with Dx9.0c for Win XP).
