Hi everyone again :)
For those who don't know , Gmax is freeware from Turbosquid. Gmax is basicaly the lil brother to 3ds max, non the less it is a powerfull program. I have been using it for about 6 months now. my earlier post I included some cheap pics of a very early stage of modeling T-72 A1 version MBT.
to show you all just how good Gmax works I am including pics of a very cool T-72 DU version upgraded with Glacis reactive armor.
I'm not saying its is top Gmax in modeling apps. but it is very effective at rendering models for export to another program such as 3ds max, Milkshape, Maya ect. one thing i rly like about Gmax is that all 3ds max models can be inportet into any Gmax scene without need of a plugin. This being that 3ds max was born from Gmax and they share the same .max format.you can't however import Gmax models into 3ds ect without a plugin.the reason being that even tho it is .max format it saves as a Gmax.max. but at any rate , for freeware it kicks butt. have a look and decide.
The model below was created from scratch and textured in Gmax 1.2
