View Full Version : GSM 2008 - Stuff 'nagan' not found
Hi all,
After finishing the game I got GSM 2008 and installed it.
The first mission (Chepel) plays fine although it's the standard mission with new sounds I think.
The problem is that I get an Exception error while loading the Monastery mission. The error says:
Stuff 'nagan' not found (estuffs.cpp, 69)
>> world: load mission "/map/1-katusha/1_3-monastery/0.mi"
> file "/map/1-katusha/1_3-monastery/0.mi"
And then some (code?) lines 1107 upto 1111 like: {item "nagan" << {cell 0 0 }}
I guess I'm missing the rifle :) but is there anything I can do about it?

Edit the script :yes: by removing the nagan you should be able to play it ;)
Sorry but which one? There are fourteen 0.mi files and they are in directories like SchlachtumCharkov and Wittmanns_Attack.
These are names of bonus missions and I'm playing the Russian campaign.
The string /map/1-katusha/1_3-monastery/0.mi means a path I suppose. I think it points to one of the large pak files. No?
The object that cause this problem it's a russian pistol.
--go to the original game folder
--there it's a folder "game.pak" aprox.808 mb
--right-click on him and open with winrar
--go to "map/1-katusha/1_3-monastery
in this folder right-click on "0.mi" and extract ....this is that monastery mission code
--open it with notepad
--in the mission code look for this:
{Entity "_infantry2_rus" 0x8064
{Position 5087.09 3658.97 0}
{Turn 66.894}
{Extender "vitality"
{Dead}
{Energy 0.01}
}
{Extender "inventory"
{box
{clear}
{item "ammo pistol" 66 {cell 4 0}}
{item "nagan" {cell 0 0}}
{item "ppsh" {cell 0 1}}
}
}
{DisableObstacles}
{Player 1}
{MID 54}
{Able {select 0}{talk 0}}
{Breed "rus.infantry_smg"}
{FsmState "dead"}
}
This type of error appear when the monastery 0.mi file it's modified...but if was in that original game archive...strange :huh:
Must be something not in order in the "set" folder of the mod.
As Latdonine suggest you cab delete this nagan. Save the mission. Next the hard_way:
--go gain to that "game.pak" folder and extract all
--replace the altered "o.mi" with that without nagan pistol
--archivate the entire folder again...and you will have a game.rar folder...
--rename it to "game.pak"...place in the game folder
--and it should work.....
-- :!: I am not 100% sure ...but you can try
For the moment I don't know what to say more cause I don't have the mod installed
You could try the German Soldiers forums (http://www.germansoldiers.net/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=14), Dus. Though I'm not sure whether english is an option on their forum there are quite a few of the fellows there who can help you with this I'm sure :) . If you do find a fix please let us know too :yes: .

i will try to fix that with the new update.
pls post all known errors here pls, so i can take a look ;)
Sorry for not replying earlier, work seriously gets in the way of play.
Here's what I did:
I followed mp5_sd's instructions on unpacking the game.pak.
Removed the "nagan" line.
When repacking I get an approx 606MB file, the game can't load it.
When repacking with the "store" option (winrar) I get an approx 1340MB file, the game can't load this either.
(IOW: How should I repack?)
I then decided to just extract all files to their respective directories. This works, only two logo bmps are in both a
directory and the game.pak.
Now the game gives the "nagan" error on the mi file in the directory belonging to the level. I removed the
"nagan" line from that file.
Now the game only says "program will be terminated" :ouch:
Uninstalled GSM2008. Installed GSM2007 + Update. Play through Chepel and start Monastery. Save.
Uninstalled GSM2007. Reinstalled GSM2008.
At this point there's no "nagan" in the files. When starting all over with a new profile I can play Chepel and
Monastery.
@mp5_sd : You said "Must be something not in order in the "set" folder of the mod."
Is there something I can do there?
@Blub0r2k : If you already know what the problem is I won't bother anymore. GSM 2007 plays fine :D
You dont need unpack and pack nothing and less game.pak file .... :wilting:
I had to change a file inside the game.pak. Repacking gave a file that the game can't read.
Thats not true, you NEVER have to modify your game.pak.
Problem is mod GSM2008, if you modify your game.pak, then other mods dont work and standard game probably dont work. :confused:
Dont touch game.pak ! You are warned ! :grandpa:
So when I use separate files that are also in game.pak the separate (read: modified) files take precedence? In that case I understand what you mean. This takes me back to AotP days :lol:
