Its preety simple guys. The 3dot guy that made the trailer for your competition is a genius. His trailer is the best commercial / amateru trailer for any RTS game i have ever seen.
He should be doing ALL of your trailer / promotional work. Ive shown that trailer to my freinds who have never heard of the game, and everyone wanted to know what the game was, where they can get it.
Your trailers are not bad, but no where near the cinematic brilliance of that guy. Im sure im not the only one who thinks that trailer was amazing.
Infact one of your trailers in yourtube, i think "Soldier something" looks very similar in style...maybe he did that one also?
If I remember correctly, Instinct mentioned a long while ago that sMull is working in close vicinity with DMS with the trailers and that this trailer would be done by him... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5b0X2VWUqTg

Russian Army fighting Germans is a good trailer for the Russian market... we (read the western market) like the Hollywood style... as CoH pointed out

A slight problem with this is that the music industry wants laughable prices for using rather unknown music in commercials. So a trailer like the one Smull did is not easy to do or will be very pricy. There will be a reworked version of the Russian one being released in near future and maybe some others, but we will focus on gameplay movies.
I would love to show Smulls work but it would be necessary to redo the music and I think this will harm the charme of the movie.

I don't think changing the music would matter all that much.
But the music means a lot.
First thing i notice about the video is the coordination with the music. You cant make a video with, lets say, Rammstein, then turn it to... Beatles or that slow main menu fow theme... :)

No need to pay anyone anything as far a royalties go if you use music that is deemed "public property" and use an electronic symphony instead of the real deal ;) .

Dramatic classic martial music would be far better. Rammstein is way too modern for a game set in WWII, it'd just be sick :P .

Now I disagree, if you do it right, music from any era could work out just fine.
But something like rammstein, well it all depends on the song you use really.
Well, I was going to show you a vid my friend made for blitz with ac/dc song, but he hasn't uploaded it to youtube yet. He's sending it to me and I'm gonna upload it for him, I'll post it when it's finished.
But in all reality metal is a good genre for WW2 music videos.
Theh guys, Rammstein was the first thing on my mind at the moment... :D Prolly because our team's movie guy is an avid Rammstein fan ...
I myself listen mostly to Japanese music, J-Rock and all... :D

Sorry, but I'm simply a diehard classisist. When I see vids relating to a certain era I get turned off by out of era music being played to the vid. While I love real heavy metal(70s, 80s and some 90s) I don't for one second believe it enhances the advertisement of a 1940s war game. It's like putting ketchup and mustard on ice cream instead of caramel or chocolate :P .
