Hi,

after a while I didn't like my profile name "player" which I started to play FoW with. Now I figured out how to rename a profile name of the game later. So here are the steps:

1.) Go to your %USERPROFILE%\My Documents\my games\faces of war\profiles folder (where %USERPROFILE% stands for e.g. [Your Drive Letter]:\Documents and Settings\[Your Windows Profile Name] folder). This is the folder where FoW stores all profile informations in. Inside this profiles folder there is a lastuser file. Its contents look like:
"player"This is the name of the last loaded profile while playing the game. Open this file with an ordinary text editor and rename the profile name to any name you like, but keep the double quotes around it.

2.) Inside the FoW profiles folder there are several folders for each profile with the name of the profile. Rename the folder with your FoW profile name to the same name chosen in step one also.

3.) Inside that profile folder you renamed open the settings.set file with an ordinary text editor. Its contets look like:
{settings
{name "player"}
}There you can see the name tag with the name you are able to rename. It is important to choose the same name for the profile from the steps one and two also.

4.) When starting FoW the game will automatically load the profile contained in the lastuser file.

That's all. - Wasn't that hard, huh? :-)

Good Luck & Have Fun

PS
This hint is for FoW so far.
